Background: Nepal has the highest maternal mortality rate in the world even though Nepal started and implemented various initiative safe motherhood programs nationally. The main purpose of this study was to identify the related maternal health factors associated with the utilization of Antenatal Care Visits (ANC), delivery and Postnatal Visits (PNC).Methods: Community based cross-sectional study was conducted among 200 mothers of reproductive age group who delivered within 2 years of the survey in Dhital and Dhampus villages of Kaski district, Western Nepal. A structured questionnaire was used for collecting the information from the participants. Data analysis was done by chi-square test and multivariable logistic regression.Results: The findings from the study showed that the coverage of ANC visit was 98% and among them only half of the women visited 4 ANC visits as recommended by the government of Nepal. Out of total respondents, 80% of the respondents delivered in the hospital by Skilled Birth Attendant (SBA) and only 24% visited PNC after the delivery. Age of the respondent, husband education, respondent education, income status, level of maternal knowledge and level of enabling factors were statistically significant and positively associated in bivariate analysis. Multivariate analysis showed age, occupation of respondent, level of maternal health knowledge; enabling factors were positively significant after controlling the variables.Conclusions: The coverage of the maternal health service is still low in mountainous village of Nepal even though free maternal health services are provided with the incentives. This study just identified some factors associated with utilization of maternal health services in mountainous villages of Nepal. Further and deep investigation is necessary to go in the details by the concerned authority to find actual scenario of the mountainous part of Nepal in relation with the maternal health services.

Background: Sexual behavior is a behavior that can increase one's risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections including having sex at an early age, having multiple sexual partners, having sex while under the influence of alcohol and unprotected sexual behaviors. These problems are more occurring in migrant society especially in youth migrant workers. The objective of this study was to identify the factors influencing sexual behaviors among young (18-24 years) Myanmar migrant workers in Samut Sakhon, Thailand.Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted by using purposive sampling and convenient sampling techniques. Data were collected by using face to face interviewed with constructed questionnaires among 362 youth Myanmar migrant workers, both male and female who lived in Samut Sakhon province, to find out their sexual behaviors ( abstinences, early age of first sex, multiple sex partners and protective sex). Results: Ever have sexual intercourse in migrant workers was 56.6%; and abstinence was 43.4%. For early age of first sex, 3.6% had early sexual exposure at the age of 15 to 18 years; and 53% did not have early sexual exposure. The single sexual partner was 86.3%; and respondents with multiple sexual partners were 13.6%. Out of ever have sexual intercourse, protective sex in migrant workers was 14.4% by using condom always for every sexual intercourse; and non-protective sex was 85.8%. Alcohol drinking was also strongly associated with ever have sex and multiple sexual partner (p< 0.001). Middle level of knowledge on STI, HIV/AIDS was associated with ever have sex (p=0.017). Early age of first sex was not statistically associated with other factors, which it was found very interesting in this study. The various knowledge, attitude and barriers levels on STI and HIV/AIDS were not strongly associated with multiple sexual partners and protective sex by using condom.Conclusion: This study concluded that health education regarding correct knowledge gaps and misconceptions on STI, HIV/AIDS and condom use is very important; and it needs to be offered among migrant workers by NGOs and government organizations. This is the best way to promote low-risk sexual behaviors in young Myanmar migrant workers.

Early marriage and childbearing have led to Bangladesh having the highest adolescent fertility rate in the Asia Pacific region. Adolescent pregnancy is correlated with pregnancy-related complications, preterm delivery, delivery of low-birth weight babies, and spousal violence. A quasi-experimental study was conducted in four urban slums (two intervention and two control areas) of Dhaka from July 2014 to August 2016 to assess the effectiveness of a married adolescent girls club (MAG club) in reducing the unmet need for family planning (FP) among married girls between the ages of 14 and 19 (n = 1601, 799 in intervention and 802 in control areas). The percentages of the targeted population using any modern method of contraception were significantly higher among respondents in the intervention areas than those in the control areas (72.6% versus 63.5%). The unmet need for FP was significantly lower among respondents in the intervention areas than that of the control areas (16.2% versus 20.7%). The MAG club was a well-received strategy to provide comprehensive information on FP, which in turn helped improve contraceptive method practices and reduced the unmet need for FP among married adolescent girls in urban slums in Bangladesh. The government could leverage its existing resources to expand the MAG Club model in rural parts of the country to achieve the targets outlined in its Adolescent Reproductive Health Strategy.
