The aim of this article is to discuss how Polish non-heterosexual female football players cope with institutionalised normative heterosexuality, which functions in Poland on several levels. The study is based on 25 in-depth interviews with professional Polish female football players. The interviewed women experienced heteronormativity within Polish society, which precluded negotiating the status of homosexuality in the broader social context. The processes of de-normalisation of heteronormativity are also difficult in the field of football. Although many football coaches and club managers display 'pragmatic acceptance' of non-heterosexual female players, this attitude is not always accompanied by respect for different sexual orientations. The ways in which female football players deal with such circumstances resulted in creating a safe space of 'enclaved non-heteronormativity' within the team. It is a space which protects from socially dominant compulsory heterosexuality. We discuss the role of this enclave and its potential for social change in football cultures in Poland.

The under-representation of media coverage of women's sports has been a long-standing phenomenon, which can also be observed in Poland (Dziubiński, Organista and Mazur 2019; Jakubowska 2015; Kluczyńska 2011). One of the possible reasons for less information on women's sports is a small number of female sports journalists. Due to the lack of Polish research on female sports journalists, the authors of this article aimed at analyzing their beliefs about women's sports and the under-representation of media coverage of women's sports in the Polish media. The analysis has shown that the female journalists perceive women's sports as inferior to men's sports and are not in favor of increasing the amount of information about women's sports. The authors point to the socialization into sport, the professional socialization of the research participants, their minority status in the profession as well as their perception of masculinity, femininity, and professionalism in journalism as possible reasons for the way in which women's sport is perceived by them.

Artykuł analizuje uwarunkowaną klasowo aktywność sportową i rekreacyjną dzieci i ich rodziców w oparciu o teorię Pierre'a Bourdieu. Celem badania było scharakteryzowanie uczestnictwa w sporcie respondentów z klasy średniej i wyższej (n=64) i ich dzieci oraz sprawdzenie, czy uczestnictwo w sporcie jest uwarunkowane klasowo zgodnie z wzorami zależności prezentowanymi przez Pierre'a Bourdieu w odniesieniu do pola sportu. Skorzystano z częściowo ustrukturyzowanych indywidualnych wywiadów pogłębionych. Wywiady przeprowadzono w okresie od grudnia 2016 do marca 2017 r. na terenie Warszawy i aglomeracji warszawskiej. Wyniki wskazały, iż zarówno aktywność sportowo-rekreacyjna badanych rodziców, jak i ich dzieci odpowiadała klasowym wzorom praktyk sportowych wskazanym przez Bourdieu. Tradycja rodzinna odegrała ważną rolę przy wyborze aktywności dzieci z klasy wyższej. Uprawiały one również więcej dyscyplin sportu niż dzieci z klasy średniej, a te same dyscypliny sportu były uprawianie przez dzieci z obu klas w inny (np. mniej lub bardziej zindywidualizowany, bardziej kosztowny, ściśle nadzorowany przez rodziców) sposób. Artykuł kończy wskazanie konsekwencji klasowo uwarunkowanej aktywności sportowo-rekreacyjnej badanych.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki krytycznej analizy dyskursu przekazów medialnych dotyczących wypowiedzi szwedzkiego piłkarza ręcznego Tobiasa Karlsona na temat cheerleadingu jako aktywności uprzedmiatawiającej kobiety. Dominującym dyskursem w przekazach medialnych był dyskurs patriarchalny. W analizowanych materiałach podkreślano urodę ćwiczących zarówno w warstwie językowej tekstu, jak i za pomocą dołączanych materiałów wizualnych. Jedynie trzy artykuły przedstawiły problemy związane z oceną cheerleadingu. W artykule opisano również dyskusję na temat statusu cheerleadingu oraz przedstawień wizerunków cheerleaderek w perspektywie założeń feminizmu drugiej i trzeciej fali.

Abstract
The studies conducted over recent decades on media sports coverage indicatedmajor underrepresentation of women's sports. The underrepresentation of women's sports in the media is aligned with the perception of sport as a masculine construct with sportswomen as the 'other'. However, most studies were conducted in English-speaking countries. In this article we present our findings of press media coverage in Poland. The aim of the study was to provide an analysis of sports press coverage in the largest Polish daily, Gazeta Wyborcza, with respect to gender inequality. The chosen method was content analysis. The results show an underrepresentation of women's sports in the examined press coverage – only 12.5% of all articles concerned female sports. Qualitative analysis demonstrates that the articles differed in terms of the athletes' gender as well. The study highlighted the gender-dependent nature of the examined sports press coverage in Poland.

The aim of the study was to analyze the press coverage of sports published in the largest Polish daily newspaper, Gazeta Wyborcza, in terms of gender inequality. The content both qualitative and quantitative analysis method was used. In the study, the number of articles on women and men was examined, with the qualitative sections consisting of an analysis of gender stereotypes appearing in these articles. Th e results demonstrated the underrepresentation of women in the examined sports press coverage. The qualitative analysis showed that articles dealing with women's sports included gender stereotypes. The articles focused on the physical appearance of women or on their non-sports lives. Infantilizing and marginalizing comments were also present. The study revealed the gender-dependent nature of the press coverage of sports in Poland.

This article analyzes how the category of masculinity is constructed in sports writing. It uses texts on sports that appeared in Gazeta Wyborcza, an opinion-forming Polish newspaper. The number of such articles was calculated, with distinctions between men's and women's sports, and the gender of the journalists or experts involved. Qualitative analysis showed which disciplines are presented and in what manner, and how the roles of male and female participants are characterized. It emerges that the media message varies in regard to the type of sport and manner of describing the participants. It is shown that the texts in Gazeta Wyborcza reproduce hegemonic masculinity.

Feministyczny paradygmat w sporcie zwrócił uwagę na fakt, że sport pozostaje instytucją seksistowską. Szczególnie sporty kontaktowe, jak piłka nożna, przyczyniają się do podtrzymywania obecnego porządku płci. Celem przeprowadzonego badania była analiza przekazów prasowych Mistrzostw Świata w Piłce Nożnej w 2010 i 2014 r. Te wydarzenia zostały wybrane dlatego, ponieważ piłka nożna jest wciąż postrzegana jako dyscyplina podtrzymująca męskość hegemonialną. "Gazetę Wyborczą" ("GW") natomiast uznano za najbardziej opiniotwórczy dziennik w kraju. W badaniu wykorzystano analizę treści. Wyniki badań potwierdzają, że przekaz medialny w "GW" reprodukuje męskość hegemonialną.
