The article is devoted to the problems of the development of Russian-Japanese international cooperation in the political, administrative, economic and humanitarian spheres on the example of the Irkutsk region in the second decade of the 21th century. The implementation of bilateral ties is considered through the application of a functional approach in the theory of integration and the concepts of neorealism and rational actor. The article was prepared on the basis of periodical press materials, with the involvement of special literature on the problem

The paper presents the analysis of the features of bilateral cooperation between the Russian regions of Siberia and the Republic of Korea through the prism of the concept of constructivism. Initiatives at the interstate level have been reflected; their correlation with regional projects has been shown. The realities of interaction at the subnational level have been considered; the factors hindering the development of relations in the production and investment spheres have been traced; possible prospects for enhancing cooperation have been identified.

The article presents the analysis of cooperation between the Visegrad Group countries and China. The authors came to the conclusion that the Visegrad Quartet – Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia – occupies an important place in the region and in the implementation of the Chinese Belt and Road initiative. The Visegrad states use the format for interaction with both Euro-Atlantic entities and the PRC, balancing and trying to get additional benefits from cooperation with centers of power in Europe, North America and Asia.

The article gives a brief analysis of the development of Korean studies in Irkutsk State University over the past 30 years and their state at present. In the 1990s, in line with the spirit of the times, ISU focused mainly on applied aspects of Korean studies, teaching the Korean language in particular. In the 2000s a remarkable transformation took place which was both quantitative and qualitative. ISU significantly expanded contacts with Korean universities, interaction with which was not only in the field of teaching the Korean language, but also in jurisprudence, international relations, and history. In the second half of the 2010s, practically all academic Korean studies centers and communities of Irkutsk merged on the platform of ISU. As a result, teachers and researchers were able to accumulate their efforts, knowledge and resources to carry out projects in education and research.
