Cet article présente une critique comparative du système public de la radiodiffusion et de la rationalisation des « mondes vécus » canadien et québécois. Il propose une théorisation de la culture et de la politique de l'espace public basée sur la problématique de la reconnaissance de Taylor et sur la distinction des systèmes et des mondes vécus d'Habermas. La problématique concerne l'impasse politique entre le Canada et le Québec et le démantèlement possible de Radio-Canada. L'auteur aborde successivement l'histoire de la SRC et de la CBC du point de vue de la régulation des sociétés canadienne et québécoise et tente de justifier la proposition d'un Radio-Québec Global comme institution centrale pour le développement du projet de société dans un Québec souverain.

AbstractThe modifiable areal unit problem (MAUP) is seldom accounted for in economic geography cluster studies. This issue is particularly problematic as clusters play such a central role in regional development policy. In this study, we tested for the appearance of the MAUP when examining workplace category clusters over three different administrative scales in Stockholm County, Sweden. The measures used were the standardised ratio, global autocorrelation, and local autocorrelation. We discovered not only that the appearance of clusters depended on the administrative unit scale but also that the location of the clusters, based on the local indicator of spatial association, fluctuated wildly over the various administrative scales. Thus, our conclusion was that the robustness and validity of workplace category clusters should always be challenged if the MAUP has not been taken into account, or at least tested for.

La notion d'espace public, telle qu'elle a été notamment développée par Jürgen Habermas, apparaît aujourd'hui comme étant problématique. Dans le contexte de l'intégration continentale des Amériques, l'application de cette notion appelle des considérations à l'égard des transformations qu'ont subies les sociétés depuis les développements de la démocratie de masse. Il est possible de repenser aujourd'hui cette notion en portant attention à cela, ainsi qu'au nouveau contexte continental, en fonction d'une référence d'ensemble à l'hybridité culturelle des Amériques et des formes du pouvoir politique se profilant dans une communauté continentale. Bien que de nombreux problèmes persistent pour la configuration d'un tel espace public continental, les perspectives de son développement théorique et pratique sont également présentes. C'est cette idée qui est développée ici.

During the past 5 years, we have reexamined what we teach in management education, placing a much stronger emphasis on interpersonal skills than in the past. We must now reexamine how we teach these skills and demonstrate their value quantitatively. This article presents one method of quantifying the "softer side" of management education. It provides instruction and resources for educators and organizational professionals to administer, analyze, score, and provide quality feedback on virtually any competency area. The method is developmental in that it identifies individual, group, and organizational strengths and developmental opportunities. It is also an effective method of demonstrating the value of "soft skills" to students.

La poétique sociologique est définie comme problématique pour la sociologie critique de la culture afin de considérer l'avenir du rapport du dédoublement entre les cultures vécue et officielle à travers les institutions de l'imaginaire canadien anglais. On propose des critiques de la CBC, du développement de la politique culturelle, et des Études canadiennes comme école de pensée.A critique of the official definition of Canadian culture is presented. Given the distinction between lived and official culture, the question posed is, 'how do we theorize the relations between these two levels for an entire society? Based principally on Bahktin's concept of 'dialogism' with references to Dumont and Rioux, a sociological poetics is advanced as a theoretical device for unravelling 'the Canada'. It is argued that cultural studies defined as a sociological poetics must negate any definition of the one Canadian culture or representations of the one Canadian society. Lines of inquiry are suggested with respect to the CBC and Canadian studies as cultural industries.
