This final report presents the major findings of the Malawi Demographic and Health Survey (MDHS) carried out from September to November 1992. The survey collected information on fertility levels, nuptiality, fertility preferences, knowledge and use of family planning methods, breastfeeding practices, nutritional status of mothers and children, early childhood morbidity and mortality, use of maternal and child health services, maternal mortality, AIDS awareness, and availability of basic health services.
