The RCE Rhine-Meuse is the Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) for the Netherlands and the Euregion combining Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, an initiative of the United Nations University to create worldwide regions where educational institutions, scientific organizations, companies and governments work together for learning that contributes to a more sustainable future. The RCE Rhine-Meuse is one of the seven pioneer RCE's worldwide and the first in Europe. In the RCE working region 4 universities, 10 municipalities, 3 provinces, a core group of 20 primary and secondary schools, several leading knowledge institutes and over 40 companies connect and pool their resources for innovation through education
