Until recently circulatory migration was entrenched in legislation controlling the influx control of labour to South African centres of employment. The paper shows the results of a research among urban-based male migrants in 1983/84. The conclusion is drawn that South African labour migrancy may undergo a major shift in paradigm in future, particularly in areas where rural resources are overstressed. (DÜI-Gbh)
