Tourism destinations tend to create and represent the integrated product of tourism appropriately. The target market can often be outside the national borders. In such circumstances, modern promotion in tourism requires flexibility, as well as the creation of optimum communication strategy. Such strategies include the combination of the Internet and the traditional forms of promotinal activities. It is necessary to highlight websites and social networks as the basic, often the most important elements of the Internet promotional mix. Each region possesses its own specific tourist features, the Moravica administrative district included (Čačak, Lučani, Gornji Milanovac and Ivanjica), as a part of the Republic of Serbia. According to this, the aim of this paper is to point out the presence of local tourism organizations, hotels, travel agencies and tourism events in the Moravica administrative district on the Internet, using websites and social networks. An Internet search and a search of social networks were performed in order to determine whether the previously mentioned factors of tourism have a Web site and accounts on the analyzed social networks, whether open accounts on social networks were used in the analyzed period in 2019 and to determine the number of followers. The contribution of this paper is that it provides an overview of the current situation in the area of online promotion of the Moravica administrative district as a tourism destination that has not been researched extensively so far.
The aim of this research is to determine the level of importance and performance (usage level) of hotel crisis management measures during the different phases of a crisis: Before-Crisis phase, During-Crisis phase, and After-Crisis phase, and to determine the significant gap between these two levels by surveying the managers of the high-category hotels in Serbia. The questionnaires were filled out by the managers of 162 high-category hotels in Serbia (four-and five-star hotels) during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. The Covid-19 pandemic caused the sharpest decline in the tourism sector around the world, thus the crisis management applied in tourism enterprises will have a crucial role for the tourism industry in surviving this pandemic. The hotel managers' responses were analyzed by using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The applied methods include the descriptive statistical analysis, paired-samples t-test, and Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA). Empirical results showed that hotels were adopting various crisis management measures during the different stages of the crisis, also, the implementation of certain measures significantly affected the business operations of hotels. In addition, hotel crisis management considers that measures implemented during the Before-Crisis phase, During-Crisis phase, and After-Crisis phase are of great importance.
The focus of the research presented in the paper is the method for evaluating and assessing tourism events and its applicability which is illustrated with the visitors' assessment of the Festival of pop music in Vrnjačka Banja (the Festival). The primary data collected for the purpose of the Festival evaluation were gathered by survey method on a sample of 200 respondents, who were classified into two groups, locals and other visitors, and asked to assess the given criteria. The paper aims at using evaluation for improving the Festival development with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of the very event, which would influence an increase in the number of visitors to the Festival, i.e. tourist destination. The research results confirm the employed method to be useful for the evaluation of tourism events.
During 2017, the Society for bird protection in Serbia has organized free trips for domestic tourists in the protected nature reserves in northern Serbia. Their main task was to educate tourists about rare bird species in Serbia and explore the possibility for the development of bird watching, as a specific form of tourism. Since these forms of tourism are not sufficiently developed on Serbian travel market, the main aim of this paper is to examine the motives of tourists who are taking trips. Results of the research should determine the manner in which domestic tourists, in economically underdeveloped countries like Serbia, are related to natural values and whether it is possible that specific forms of tourism become point of interest for domestic tourists and part of the tour operators offer.The aim of the paper is to present the opinions of a group of 54 tourists who visited The Special Nature Reserve Deliblato sands in June 2017 for the education and observation of rare species of birds. Research has shown that the dominant motives of tourists were related to their need for physical activity, recreation and leisure, rather than observing and photographing rare birds. The results of the survey of the descriptive statistics show that the majority of the respondents believe that the observation of birds and sustainable tourism in the Nature Reserve of the Deliblato sands will only experience its development.Research results can be useful to business entities in tourism with the aim of forming a tourist offer for domestic and foreign tourists as well as individuals, with the aim of developing awareness of the importance and importance of protected nature reserves and their preservation in the future. This is the not first study, but one of the pioneer research to examine the motives of traveling by domestic tourists in terms of specific forms of tourism development in Serbia.
The principal aim of this paper was to explore destination competitiveness factors of Jablanica District (Serbia), by examining the attitudes of tourists. For research purposes, 32 attributes of destination competitiveness were rated with two parallel five-point Likert type scales – one by which tourists rated the importance of the attribute and the other by which they expressed their satisfaction with the same. A total of 378 validly completed questionnaires were collected and served as a basis for data analysis. By using a factor analysis, the most important destination competitiveness factors were extracted. Based on this factor solution, Importance-Performance Analysis (I.P.A.) was performed. Using I.P.A., this article examines the efficiency of the resources allocation based on isolated factors, and the possibility of creating management strategies to improve the competitiveness of this destination. The results of this study indicate that the factors of food and environment are of primary importance for tourists when choosing this tourism destination. Research results will be of great importance for tourism managers in the destination, as well as for authorities of local governments in the district, to better understand strengths and weaknesses of identified competitiveness factors and utilise them as a starting point for tourism development.
