Argues that achieving a progressive US foreign policy will require a substantive transformational politics beyond what might be expected from the presidency of Barack Obama who has already indicated support for certain tenets of US imperial policy. Disturbing aspects of Obama's foreign policy positions related to Afghanistan/Pakistan, Iran, Israel-Palestine, & renunciation of the idea of the US as an uncontestable imperial force are pointed out. It is emphasized that halfway solutions won't work; the private insurance industry must be eliminated in order to provide a humane & just health care system.
