Linking corporate social responsibility to organizational commitment: the role of employee job satisfaction
In: Journal of global responsibility
ISSN: 2041-2576
Purpose
This study aims to examine the impact of an organization's internal and external corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives on employee job satisfaction and organizational commitment.
Design/methodology/approach
Drawing on the social identity perspective, the authors proposed and tested a mediation model to understand the psychological mechanisms underlying the effects of CSR. The study sample comprised 263 employees from Italian manufacturing firms.
Findings
Our findings indicate that external CSR orientation is positively associated with employee job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Furthermore, the mediating effect of job satisfaction partially explains the positive relationship between external CSR orientation and organizational commitment. Moreover, we found that the positive impact of external CSR on employee outcomes is strengthened when combined with internal CSR.
Practical implications
This research has practical and theoretical implications for organizations seeking to enhance employee engagement and commitment through CSR initiatives and sheds light on how CSR can shape employee attitudes and behaviors toward the organization.
Originality/value
This study brings a novel contribution to the field by examining the impact of both internal and external CSR initiatives on employee job satisfaction and organizational commitment.

Impact of Teachers Attitude on the Inclusion and Academic Progress of the Student with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities: A Case Study
In: Journal of Asian development studies, Band 13, Heft 4, S. 703-714
ISSN: 2304-375X
The effect of teachers' attitudes on a child's achievement and enrollment plays a vital role in the inclusion and academic progress of a student with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The purpose of the present study is to report a qualitative single case study exploring the role of teacher attitude in implementing the inclusion process and student achievement of a child with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an inclusive environment. Using narratives collected from two teachers and the student's parent, this paper shows that the perceptions and practices of teachers in their classrooms play a significant role in promoting or preventing inclusion and learners' achievement. The results confirm that teachers' positive attitudes are essential for perceiving the learning environment as effective. Similarly, parental opinion discovered that they conformed to being key partners with teachers to improve children's academic performance. Educators, policymakers and all stakeholders involved in improving education for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities will find this study helpful when planning for more effective implementation of inclusive education policy and practice. The study found that teacher attitudes significantly impact the inclusion and academic progress of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Positive attitudes and adaptive strategies enhanced student outcomes, while negative attitudes hindered growth, underscoring the importance of professional development and teacher-family collaboration.
Academic Perspectives of the Teaching and Development of Generic Employability Skills at Postgraduate Level
In: Journal of Asian development studies, Band 13, Heft 4, S. 738-750
ISSN: 2304-375X
This research investigates the process and acquisition of generic employability skills by university postgraduate learners. Evaluating the teaching-learning processes and the activities/strategies and approaches taken in skills development, 25 University teachers were interviewed through semi-structured interviews adopted as the research instrument in this qualitative study. The findings identified seven common teaching assignment strategies: lectures, assignments, quizzes, brainstorming, case-study analysis, debates, games, teams, sports and games. Therefore, the study focuses on the need to improve the quality of teaching methods that could effectively promote the achievement of employability skills. The participants were selected through convenient sampling, with the participants being teachers and students from three public and two private universities. The interviews that were conducted armed with Castillo-Montoya's (2016) sorts of interview questions offered an understanding of practices adopted by higher learning institutions to meet the employability challenge of the learners. More studies should be conducted on the extent and quality of the teaching methods associated with the approaches.
Anxiety and Academic Performance of Undergraduate University Students
In: Global social sciences review: an open access, triple-blind peer review, multidisciplinary journal, Band VII, Heft II, S. 372-386
ISSN: 2616-793X
Aim of the study was to find out the relationship between anxiety with academic performance of undergraduate university students. The study was conducted for the objectives; (i) to find out the anxiety level of undergraduate university students. (ii) to identify the level of achievement scores (GPA) and co-curricular activities of undergraduate university students, and (iii) to find out the relationship between anxiety and academic performance of undergraduate university students. A sample of 408, including 195 male and 213 female 2nd-semester undergraduate BS students from 12 different departments out of 4 faculties of the University of the Sargodha, taking 34 students from each department, were selected through multistage random sampling techniques. Two instruments, anxiety scale and performance checklists, were developed to collect data from students. Research instruments were validated through experts' opinions, pilot testing was done, and the reliability coefficient Cronbach Alpha value for the anxiety scale was .832. Frequencies, mean, standard deviation, t-tests and Pearson correlation were used for data analysis. There was a weak and negative relationship between anxiety and achievement scores of undergraduate university students whereas. But there was a significant but weak and negative relationship between anxiety and achievement scores and co-curricular activities of undergraduate university students. So it is recommended that teachers of the university may integrate activities in their classroom teaching to keep students involved and reduce anxiety.
Study of Clogging Phenomenon for a Conical Hopper: The Influence of Particle Bed Height and Hopper Angle
In: Science and technology of nuclear installations, Band 2021, S. 1-10
ISSN: 1687-6083
The granular flow is one of the principal issues for the design of pebble bed reactors. Particularly, the clogging phenomenon raises an important issue for pebble bed reactors. In this paper, we conduct experiments and discrete particle simulation of two-dimensional discharge granular flow from a conical hopper, to study the effect of the particle bed height
h
and hopper angle
α
on the clogging phenomenon. In general, the clogging probability
J
increases with height
h
and starts to saturate when
h
is larger than a critical value. The experimental result trends are supported by discrete simulations. To understand the underlying physical mechanism, we conduct discrete particle simulations for various
h
values, focusing on the following parameters: the statistical averaging of the volume fraction, velocity, and contact pressure of particles near the aperture during the discharge. We found that, among all relevant variables, the contact pressure of particles is the main cause of the increasement of J when
h
increases. An exponential law between the pebble bed
h
and clogging probability J has been established based on these observations and Janssen model. As for hopper angle
α
, J shows an almost constant behavior for any rise in
α
followed by a sudden regression at
α
=
75
°
. Surprisingly, the effect of
α
is most obvious for intermediate values of
h
, where we observe a sharp increasement of clogging probability. The same trend is observed in the two-dimensional discrete simulation results.

Theory of Deconstruction: A Study of Scholastic Scope Thereof
In: Global social sciences review: an open access, triple-blind peer review, multidisciplinary journal, Band VII, Heft I, S. 46-58

This research article primarily dealt with the impact of theory of deconstruction in various disciplines; it endeavored to study the power of pervasion of this notable literary and philosophical theory into other areas of study including the field of education, too. Theory of deconstruction as propounded by Jacques Derrida, famous French abstruse thinker and philosopher of twentieth century, emphasizes the transient nature of the meaning of a text by finding various aporias -- a logical dis-junction in a text -- and impasses lying in the text whatever. Such aporias disturb the underlying system of logic of the text under consideration leading to its own negation.Being considered as the main building block of Postmodernism --a style and concept in the arts characterized by distrust of theories and ideologies and by the drawing of attention to conventions -- this aggrandized theory has pervaded a great many fields of knowledge changing their fundamental claims altogether . In this way, this theory has gained much attention in the realm of knowledge. This article, as a matter of fact, studies this very influence of theory of deconstruction in the realm of various disciplines.
IMPACT OF BLASPHEMY LAWS ON HUMAN RIGHTS OF RELIGIOUS MINORITIES: A REVIEW
The situation is always complicated when a religious, cultural and political majority and minority, both are involved in the act of blasphemy or accusation of blasphemy in a specific situation. From the perspective of safeguarding the rights of minorities this can be further classified into two categories. First, a majority community member commits the act of blasphemy against a minority, and second are minority community member is wrongfully accused of committing blasphemy against the majority religion, cultural values or political philosophy. Every instance of blasphemy involving a minority class affects the society more than where only majority class is involved. This paper is a brief overview of human rights' violation of religious minorities in India, Indonesia and Pakistan in context of blasphemy and blasphemy laws. It is the need of time that these countries should adopt proper legal and social measures to address the grievances of religious minorities, especially Christians in Pakistan, Ahmadis in Indonesia, and Muslims in India.

Effectiveness of Urdu reading braille characters with the help of tactile and visual clues
This study shows that most sighted can learn whole-word Braille reading. To this knowledge, this is the first demonstration that adults with an intact visual system can learn such a complex tactile task, given the right motivation and method. Five objectives were formulated for this study. To identify the effects of tactile training on the children was the fourth objective. To explain the effects of training based visual clues on the children was the fifth objective. This study was experimental in nature. Two experimental groups were designed. It was seen that some senses enhanced in case of the deprivation of a sights sense. In the visually impaired personal the tactile sense is clear due to the visual impairment. Similarly visual sense became more tactile tasks in deaf students. Reading and penning Braille has been a priority for Hadley Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired since its introduction in 1920. The day of Braille course is our democratic course. The modification is associated with potentially adaptive neural reorganization.

Impact of Six Sigma Practices on Teaching-Learning Effectiveness: A Case Study of the University of Okara
In: Global social sciences review: an open access, triple-blind peer review, multidisciplinary journal, Band VIII, Heft II, S. 657-670
ISSN: 2616-793X
The study aimed to assess the impact of implementing Six Sigma practices on teaching effectiveness. This exploratory research, conducted at the University of Okara, centred on teachers from various departments. Qualitative data was gathered via semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings revealed that faculty members were unintentionally addressing three phases (define, measure, and analyze) of the Six Sigma process due to a lack of awareness. Students were knowledgeable about their educational standards and rights, and their issues were addressed when communicated. However, the remaining two phases (improvement and control) of Six Sigma were neglected by university teachers, with quantity taking precedence over quality. Teachers acquainted with Six Sigma practices demonstrated greater teaching effectiveness. The study recommends raising awareness among teaching staff about Six Sigma practices and ensuring their implementation for better outcomes. Expanding the data collection scope for result triangulation is also suggested.
