The recent and continuing phenomenal growth in the numbers undertaking the pilgrimage to Mecca is considered against the backcloth of the host region's finite resources. A multiple-regression model is developed which seeks to explain the present pattern of pilgrim movement and to predict future numbers. Insights are provided into the actual stage-by-stage development towards the final model. The assumptions implicit within our evaluations are clearly and unequivocably indicated and discussed. Improved levels of explanation result from more-realistic data inputs. Future pilgrim numbers are predicted for 1983 and 1993. The problem of the ever increasing numbers of pilgrims is briefly alluded to and interim measures are suggested.

The interpersonal relations between the nurses and the nurse assistants are very important for overall patient care delivery. This paper aims to analyses the interaction of those professions to elucidate current problems and possible improvements in their interaction. Conducting a multiple-source analysis of the current literature, survey, and case studies, we offer practical recommendations. Issues of communication, role definition issues, and the effect of teamwork on patients are some of the important findings of the study. Suggestions for addressing the gaps are improved training processes, rail implementation, and promotion of respect between the two categories.

Fragmentation functions are constructed using charged-particle tracks with transverse momenta p(T) > 4 GeV/c for dijet events with a leading jet of p(T) > 100 GeV/c. The fragmentation functions in PbPb events are compared to those in pp data as a function of collision centrality, as well as dijet-p(T) imbalance. Special emphasis is placed on the most central PbPb events including dijets with unbalanced momentum, indicative of energy loss of the hard scattered parent partons. The fragmentation patterns for both the leading and subleading jets in PbPb collisions agree with those seen in pp data at 2.76 TeV. The results provide evidence that, despite the large parton energy loss observed in PbPb collisions, the partition of the remaining momentum within the jet cone into high-p(T) particles is not strongly modified in comparison to that observed for jets in vacuum.
