Ekonomi Berdaulat dan Berkeadilan dalam Perspektif Muhammad Iqbal
Religion is the basic capital in building a solid economy. Social welfare in an Islamic perspective is not only oriented towards fulfilling material needs but must be based on the principle of justice which considers the aspects of material, social and spiritual satisfaction for the individual as well as for the wider community. This paper is intended to explore the thoughts and economic vision initiated by Muhammad Iqbal. This study is a qualitative study using a content-analysis approach through data taken from various writings related to this research. In the end, this research concludes that economic justice will be realized if there is political sovereignty, and political sovereignty will be realized if there is independence. The concept of a just economy is born from religious guidance and teachings because it directly defines the concept of holistic welfare in the vital aspects of human needs.

In: Journal of International Studies, Band 20, Heft 1, S. 53-82
ISSN: 2289-666X
The expansion of the British Empire during the 18th and 19th centuries significantly shaped livestock policies and agricultural practices in their colonies. It is argued here that understanding the British colonial experience in Kedah offers valuable perspectives on how responsible and sustainable livestock production can contribute to addressing the challenges of food security around the world. The current academic study employed a historical method and qualitative approach to investigate the impact of British colonial rule on livestock production in Kedah, Malaya, from 1909 to 1940. The study delved into the British efforts to enhance livestock production in Kedah and highlighted the pivotal role played by livestock production in achieving food security, promoting economic growth, and encouraging responsible consumption. Also, the current study revealed the challenges the British faced in animal husbandry activities during this period. The findings demonstrated that the British had successfully developed the livestock sector in Kedah, proven by the increased meat production, livestock numbers, and income. As a result, this historical study provides valuable insights for addressing contemporary global issues related to food security.
PELANUNAN DAN PEMBURUAN HAMBA DI TUNGKU, BORNEO UTARA (1840–1879)
In: e-BANGI: Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities, Band 20, Heft 4
ISSN: 1823-884X
HYDROLOGICAL LEGACIES OF COLONIALISM: EXAMINING WATER SYSTEMS IN PERLIS, MALAYA (1909–1950)
In: Journal of International Studies, Band 19, Heft 2, S. 215-243
ISSN: 2289-666X
This study focused on water management and control in Malaya, particularly the establishment of a 'colonial hydrology' in Perlisfrom 1909 to 1950. The study analysed water policies, management techniques, and the social and economic aspects of the localpopulation and the global market, using archival data. This study has also highlighted the intersection between natural resources, political power, and global economic trends from an international studies perspective. The control over water resources allowed the British colonial government to strengthen its position in the global market, but this resulted in adverse effects on the environment and social justice, especially for the local population. The study has argued that sustainable and equitable approaches to resource management are needed to promote sustainable development and combat global environmental challenges. The findings of this research can inform policymakers about the importance of incorporating environmental and social justice considerations in policymaking, especially with regard to natural resource management. Overall, this study adds valuable insights to the field of international studies by highlighting how the exploitation of natural resources can have far-reaching effects, both locally and globally, thereby emphasising the need for interdisciplinary and inclusive approaches to addressing resource management issues.

Can Yucca schidigera Be Used to Enhance the Growth Performance, Nutrient Digestibility, Gut Histomorphology, Cecal Microflora, Carcass Characteristic, and Meat Quality of Commercial Broilers Raised under Tropical Conditions?
SIMPLE SUMMARY: The broiler industry is a rapidly growing industry, particularly in developing countries, which provides a cheap source of protein via short production cycles. Despite improvements in the broiler industry, it faces several challenges such as high feed production cost, land availability, disease outbreaks, coping with rapid technology advancements, and adherence to continuous government policy change. The conditions often worsen in the tropical regions as high temperatures cause heat stress in broilers leading to negative effects on feed consumption, feed efficiency, growth rate, and mortality, resulting in a large economical loss in commercial poultry farms. As a result, any disruptions such as poor growth rate and disease outbreak could potentially harm the supply and demand, which will ultimately affect the food security of a country. Therefore, the use of antibiotics in feed has been found to increase feed efficiency and growth performance significantly in the poultry industry. Owing to the development of antimicrobial resistance in humans and livestock, the interest in using phytobiotics in veterinary medicine as an alternative to antibiotic feed additives in poultry diets is increasing. ABSTRACT: This study aims to study the effect of Yucca shidigera as a phytobiotic supplementation in enhancing the production performance of commercial broilers reared under tropical environments. A total of 300 male day-old Ross 308 broiler chicks were randomly allocated into six treatment groups. Treatment 1 broilers were fed with commercial diets without antibiotics. Treatment 2 broilers were fed with commercial diets added with 100 mg/kg oxytetracycline antibiotic. Treatment 3, 4, 5, and 6 were fed with the same commercial diets added with 25, 50, 75, and 100 mg/kg Y. shidigera, respectively, without antibiotic. Throughout the six weeks study period, body weight and feed intake were recorded weekly for each replicate to calculate the body weight gain and feed conversion ratio. In addition, the nutrient ...

Development of an In-house aPPD ELISA for Mycobacterium avium Complex (MAC) Antibodies Detection in Zoo Primates
In: Pertanika journal of tropical agricultural science, Band 47, Heft 2, S. 549-557
ISSN: 2231-8542
In non-human primates (NHPs), Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) species are the major source of non-tuberculous mycobacteriosis, causing tuberculous-like lesions in lymph nodes and parenchymatous organs in zoo and wildlife animals. Poor species-specific detection by serological diagnosis has negatively impacted the surveillance of MAC on non-human primates. Serum was collected from suspected twelve (n = 12) NHPs with no record of health monitoring, including gibbon (n = 5), capuchins (n = 2), siamang (n = 2), mandrill (n = 1), and orangutan (n = 2). An in-house avian purified protein derivative (aPPD) enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) antibody detection was developed and modified based on the established protocols. The aPPD ELISA for MAC antibodies detection at serum and Protein-G dilutions of 1:200-0.5µg/ml, respectively, detected 3/12 (25%) positive serum. At both serum and Protein-G dilutions of 1:100-0.05 and 1:300-1 µg/ml, the aPPD ELISA detected 12/12 (100%), respectively. The antibody was not detected for an in-house aPPD ELISA with serum and anti-monkey immunoglobulin G (IgG) dilutions at 1:100-0.5 and 1:300-1 µg/ml. However, 2/12 (16%) was detected using serum and anti-monkey IgG dilutions at 1:200-0.05 µg/ml. An in-house aPPD ELISA procedure for MAC antibodies detection in primates, at serum and Protein-G dilutions of 1:100-0.05 and 1:300-1 µg/ml, both have shown sensitivity and specificity of 100%, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of 100%, respectively. The serum and anti-monkey IgG have shown extremely low sensitivity and specificity. In conclusion, the performance of an in-house aPPD ELISA using three different dilutions on serum and conjugates in detecting MAC in a primate has shown that Protein-G horseradish peroxidase, as secondary conjugates were able to detect MAC antibodies.

Di Sebalik Isu Perkahwinan Nadrah: Tumpuan Terhadap Pandangan Ahmad Luthfi dalam Majalah Qalam (1950–1963)
In: Kajian Malaysia: journal of malaysian studies, Band 42, Heft 1, S. 341-365
ISSN: 2180-4273
The issue of Nadrah began to draw the attention of the world community in the early 1950s due to the trial of custody rights between her Malay adoptive mother and her Dutch biological parents. This event sparked a major polemic since it touched the sensitivities of the Malays and Muslims. Among the dominant issues in the Nadrah tragedy was the issue of Nadrah's marriage, which had become the main topic in the newspapers and magazines at that time, including the Qalam magazine. Compared to other print media, the Qalam magazine seemed to emphasise more on reports that were based on Islamic beliefs and morals in relation to the issue of Nadrah. In relation to this, the current study examined the perception of Ahmad Luthfi, as a founder, publisher, and author of the Qalam magazine, on the issue of Nadrah's marriage from the aspects of age limit for marriage, Islamisation and faith, women's freedom, the role of kadi (a judge)/wali (Islamic legal guardian) and Islamic administrative law. The resources and materials in this article were obtained from the National Archives of Malaysia, Tun Sri Lanang Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Library, Universiti Malaya (UM) Main Library, UM Za'ba Memorial Library, UM Ahmad Ibrahim Library, UM Academy of Islamic Studies Library, and other sources. The findings of the study show that Ahmad Luthfi had a clear perception of the Islamic law based on the Al-Quran and Hadith. He would not compromise with those who undermined Islamic law. His views had invited positive and negative reactions from various parties.
