Photographer Wendy Ewald made arresting photographs of child refugees who had arrived in the U.K. including this haunting boy fleeing violence from the Democratic Republic of Congo. She also interviewed them about their experiences and the precious objects they managed to bring with them. She called the exhibit "Towards the Promised Land." She writes of this project:
