POLITICAL PRESSURE WILL PROBABLY LIMIT U.S. GOVERNMENT POLICY OPTIONS TO THE FIRST TWO, RESULTING IN SPENDING MORE PUBLIC MONEY FOR LESS RAIL SERVICE.

DESPITE THE DOCUMENTATION AVAILABLE NOW OR IN THE FUTURE, THE POW MEMOIRS WILL REMAIN A BASIC SOURCE. ALTHOUGH CONSIDERABLE TIME HAS NOW ELAPSED SINCE THEIR RETURN, SOME FORMER POWS MAY YET ADD THEIR MEMOIRS TO THE POOL. EVERY ADDITION WILL BE A WELCOME CONTRIBUTION. THE EXTANT BIBLIOGRAPHY IS A VALUABLE BODY OF LITERATURE THAT PROVIDES A FASCINATING STORY AND HELPS THE STUDENT OF THE VIETNAM WAR COME TO GRIPS WITH AN IMPORTANT ASPECT OF THAT EXPERIENCE.
