The World within a Play or Playing within the World: Re-animating the Author through the Actor's Voice
In: New literaria: an international journal of interdisciplinary studies in humanities, Band 4, Heft 2, S. 156-164
ISSN: 2582-7375
The critical argument around deconstruction destabilises the author and the relationship between the authorial authority over the text and the meaning-making process. A similar deconstructive turn also questioned the actor's positioning within the larger production apparatus in relation to the dramatic text. Looking at the changing ideological construction around the author in relation to the actor and performance, this paper argues that the re-animation of the author in the recent critical arena has opened up spaces where we can re-imagine the actor as well. The exclusion of the author from the bourgeois authority of the text has freed the text to be re-connected with the actor. Through this re-connection, the method of meaning-making gets a new dimension where neither the author nor the actor has full authority over the text. Still, they remain active part-takers in the meaning-making process. This paper contextualises how deconstruction as a theoretical premise and autobiographical narratives as active writing have a dialogue that portrays writing as a performing narrative: a creative synthesis between the narrating self and experiencing self. It is an enquiry into that 'theatrical' space where the autobiographical 'author' and actor melts down to become an organising function which can question the earlier production apparatus and simultaneously become a creative force. This paper is an objective epistemological endeavour to destabilise the production apparatus, thus opening up new possibilities of meaning and interpretation in examining the text, author, actor, and beyond.

The Arctic is warming at a rate of at least twice the global average. With this rapid warming, permafrost, or permanently frozen ground, is thawing. When permafrost thaws, the organic matter inside begins to break down and releases carbon dioxide and methane, the latter about 86 times more potent than carbon dioxide, as a greenhouse gas over a 20-year period. One of the most visible signs of thawing permafrost is 'drunken forest'--trees leaning at odd angles as they lose their footing in the unstable soil. In Nov 2007, large areas of drunken forest were spreading near Nelemonoye, a Yukaghir community along the upper Kolyma River in the Sakha Republic. Thawing of terrestrial permafrost also has major impact on ecology, hydrology, and human infrastructures, as homes, buildings, roads, and runways can collapse as the ground underneath begins to buckle. Here, Banerjee looks at the 'circumpolar north' in its new, ever-warmer configurations. Adapted from the source document.

MANET: Applications, Issues, and Challenges for the Future
In: International journal of business data communications and networking: IJBDCN ; an official publication of the Information Resources Management Association, Band 1, Heft 2, S. 66-92
ISSN: 1548-064X
This paper presents the current state of the art of mobile ad hoc network and some important problems and challenges related to routing, power management, location management as well as multimedia over ad hoc networks. A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a temporary self-organizing network of wireless mobile nodes without the support of any existing infrastructure that may be readily available on the conventional networks. Since there is no fixed infrastructure available for MANET with nodes being mobile, routing becomes a very important issue. In addition, we also explain the various emerging applications and future trends of MANET.
Digital entertainment as next evolution in service sector: emerging digital solutions in reshaping different industries
The book showcases research on digital entertainment solutions in different sectors. In recent years, digital media have evolved to include bandwidth-rich, smart, and connected platforms accessed via computers, tablets, smart phones, social media, and video game consoles. The high connectivity and vast processing capacity of these platforms have allowed for platform-agnostic, streaming, always-on, entertainment-on-demand consumption of digital content in a way distinct from traditional models of entertainment consumption. Moving beyond the unilateral delivery of content, with fixed positions of the entertainers and the entertained, digital entertainment is now dynamically generated by users and providers, blurring the boundary between producers and consumers of entertainment. With the increasing accessibility of multimodal media that surround audiences with sensory-rich information, digital entertainment is becoming more immersive. Optimized one‐pot synthesis of CdSe quantum dot capped with 3‐mercaptopropionic acid as an efficient fluorescent probe for selective detection of Hg (II)
In: Water and environment journal, Band 36, Heft 3, S. 541-552
ISSN: 1747-6593
AbstractHere, we demonstrated the use of 3‐mercaptopropionic acid‐capped CdSe quantum dots (CdSe QDs) for the sensing of mercury ions (Hg2+) in solution. The size and the shape of the synthesized QD were observed through transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and crystallinity was confirmed through X‐ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The synthesized QD showed to have mean size 4 nm. Our QD was found to sense Hg2+ ions with a detection limit of 5 ppm at pH 7.0 and a linearity range of 5–50 ppm. The effect of pH on the optical property of QD was also investigated and found that the sensor worked best at pH 7.0 with high linearity and sensitivity, thus reducing the cost of the process. The sensing mechanism of CdSe QD was further analysed through Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Therefore, our synthesized CdSe QD capped with 3‐mercaptopropionic acid demonstrated to act as an efficient nanomaterial for rapid and easy to perform sensing of mercury ion in aquatic environment.
Integrated model for women empowerment in rural India
In: Journal of international development: the journal of the Development Studies Association, Band 33, Heft 3, S. 594-611
ISSN: 1099-1328
AbstractThe current study aims to develop an integrated model for women empowerment in rural India using primary data collected from 3000 women across 60 villages from East, West, South, North, and Central India. Exploratory factor analysis came out with the three main dimensions of women empowerment, namely, economic, social and human, and legal empowerment. A conceptual model is thus devised, which throws light on key areas that can be developed. Reforms are required to make rural women economically independent, providing them social freedom and utilities and ensuring a strict and favourable judiciary system for ensuring women empowerment.
