Examines the impacts of globalization on women's paid labour. Through statistics on labour force participation, employment by industries and occupational distribution before and after the acceleration of globalization, case studies and reports, it is found that impacts have been far more complex than generally assumed. While globalization may have opened up certain opportunities for some women, it tends to drive many into destitution. (Original abstract - amended)
