Medical personnel is constantly exposed to a variety of stressful events, starting from work overloading, to threats to one's own health or personal integrity, disruptions in personal relationships due to high stress in the professional environment, continuous need to keep in touch with the advances of medical science and therapeutic guidelines etc. Structured evaluation of work-related stress disorders (WRSD) is important both for screening purposes in a vulnerable population like the medical personnel, and for the monitoring of the overall status evolution during individual or organizational interventions. Beside burnout syndrome, major depressive episodes, anxiety disorders, acute stress reactions, posttraumatic stress reactions, substance use disorders, adjustment disorders are also included in the category of WRSD. A specific instrument has been designed for the purpose of screening for WRSD in this specific population, i.e. the Work-related Stress Inventory for Medical Personnel, structured as a 20 items, self-administered instrument (WRSIMP-20). This inventory evaluates three main dimensions- (1) mood symptoms and somatic equivalents, (2) work and professional environment-related discomfort, and (3) interpersonal relationship-associated distress. The results of online administration of WRSIMP-20 in 81 health care workers and 52 individuals not related in any way to health care professions (control group) were consistent with the premises, as this inventory has been proven valid for the targeted population. Larger trials and test-retest evaluation are needed in order to complete the psychometric properties of WRSIMP-20, but this instrument seems promising in the detection of individuals vulnerable to WRSD

"Leiomyosarcoma is a rare type of smooth muscle cell tumor, with an incidence of 7-10% compared to other types of sarcomas. It develops primarily in the retroperitoneal cavity, the genital tract and extremities. Leiomyosarcoma can also affect the bone, either as a primary tumor or as metastasis. Primary osseus leiomyosarcoma is a rare finding in patients with radiologically identified osteolytic lesions having an incidence of <1% of total primary bone tumors.Due to its low incidence patients with primary osseous leiomyosarcoma are never diagnosed before immunohistochemical analysis and case management is difficult because of the lack of specific indications pertaining to primary osseus leiomyosarcoma. Data on age specific incidence is scarce but there seems to be a tendency towards a higher incidence with advanced age. The purpose of this work is to discuss the complete management of primary osseus leiomyosarcomas based on interdisciplinary medical teams' indications in a Romanian hospital setting"

"Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) E6 and E7 oncoproteins are vital for developing HPV induced penile carcinoma. The viral oncoproteins play a central role in oncogenesis by interacting with several cellular regulatory proteins, such as p16INK4a and p53. Many studies suggest that these proteins showed clinical utility in predicting nodal disease, cancer specific survival, overall survival and even tumor grade. Understanding the molecular mechanism involved in the carcinogenesis of penile cancer could offer biomarkers for disease progression, treatment response and potential targeted therapies; (2) Methods: This paper is a prospective study on a group of 100 patients who underwent prostate surgery during 2013 and 2014 in the Urology Clinic of "Carol Davila" Central Military Emergency University Hospital Bucharest. They were tested for HPV by PCR and IHC (p16) methods; (3) Results: 11 cases (22%) of HPV were found in the cluster of patients tested. PCR and P16 were the HPV diagnostic tests used. In order to determine the consistency of the 2 tests, the Cohen's kappa coefficient was used at a p level < 0.05. The PCR method had a sensitivity of 81.8% and a specificity of 94.9%. The P16 method had a sensitivity of 63.6% and a specificity of 89.7%."

Background and Aim: Psoriasis is an inflammatory skin disorder with important influence on the lipid profile, insulin resistance and cardiovascular disease. The aim of this study is to compare the lipid profile of classical therapy versus anti-TNFs patients and asses the associated diseases. Methods: We conducted a prospective study. Patients' data were collected from two Romanian Dermatology Clinics, during the period January 2015 – June 2016. The patients were divided into two groups: study group (on TNF inhibitors) and control group (on classical treatment). Results: The subjects in the study group had more associated diseases and much more patients suffered from dyslipidemia. There were not statistically significant differences in the lipid profile between the two groups. But eliminating patients treated with Acitretin and Methotrexate, a p- value of 0.0259 (significant statistically) was observed when comparing the values of triglycerides in the two groups. Conclusions: We did not observe a beneficial effect of the TNF inhibitors therapy in psoriatic patients on the lipid profile. Subjects on biological treatment suffer from a more severe form of psoriasis vulgaris and associate much more comorbidities.

Introduction: Venous thromboembolism (VTE), in its clinical spectrum, includes both deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). It is a disease with high incidence and morbidity in hospital and community settings. Venous thromboembolism has various risk factors and there are studies proving that the risk of increasing the incidence of the disease is proportional to the risk factors. Diagnosis, treatment and complications of lower limb deep vein thrombosis (DVT) depend on the anatomical location and extent of the process. The post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) is the most common complication of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and clinically it is characterized by chronic pain, edema, enlarged veins, skin induration and other signs of the affected limb, while, in severe cases, it can develop venous ulcers. The incidence of peripheral trophic disorders by age and the prevalence of risk factors for deep vein thrombosis of the lower limbs were examined in this regard. Materials and method: A retrospective study (January 2013 - December 2015) was conducted by collecting data from medical documents available in ""Floreasca"" Emergency Hospital Bucharest, Romania. The patients diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis, on the basis of Doppler ultrasound, were divided into two groups, according to age: group A (59 patients aged ≤50 years) and group B (130 patients aged> 50 years). A number of data from the medical anamnesis, along with clinical and paraclinical data were collected by us and we were interested in the incidence of peripheral trophic disorders caused by deep vein thrombosis of the lower limbs correlated with the risk factors. The study showed the incidence of deep venous thrombosis in a certain age and a certain environment of origin. The incidence of patients who have had a VTE history is half the patients with deep vein thrombosis who have had prophylactic anticoagulant therapy before hospitalization. The incidence of patients who have had prophylactic anticoagulant therapy before hospitalization is 61.1% of the patients with deep vein thrombosis and a VTE history. The incidence of trophic disorders caused by deep vein thrombosis of the lower limbs in patients who have had prophylactic anticoagulant therapy before hospitalization and in patients who also had a history of VTE is higher in those over 50 years old. The study showed the association of some risk factors for venous thrombosis with an age-related factor. Conclusions: Improving preventive strategies and an optimally efficient utilization of these strategies for patients at risk of venous thrombosis can lead to improved clinical outcomes in practice and also to the post-thrombotic syndrome prevention. Taking into consideration the risk factors by age group and a better understanding of epidemiology and the risk factors for the first or recurrent venous thrombosis can lead to optimal use of prophylactic strategies and improved quality of life. DVT affects all age groups and the incidence associated with PTS is high, therefore the prevalence of PTS in general population is considerable.
