Discovering Myanmar as a manufacturing country

Master Thesis ; Tutor: Tomislav Rimac ; Due to high price pressure within the fashion industry, retailers are permanently looking for low-cost production locations. Myanmar, which recently opened its economy and is stressing for political reforms, becomes attractive as a manufacturing base for labor intensive industries. Tishat Ltd., a new garment sourcing agency in Myanmar, which offers reliable, fast and high quality sourcing services wants to become one of the first players in the market and by benefiting from its first mover advantage. The following thesis contains a country analysis, which illustrates the risks and benefits of doing business in Myanmar. Furthermore, an operational plan is elaborated in order to present the main activities of the company. Finally three different scenarios are presented in order to introduce a final recommendation.
