Le passage de traitements picturaux aux traitements scripturaux dans la reconnaissance des mots écrits

This study examines learning of specific graphic properties of writing in 3 to 7 years old children. Two experiments of word recognition are proposed. The role of graphic previous knowledges in acquisition of letters' s orientation is showed : between 3 and 7 years children use the vertical symmetry as similarity response. This allowed us to define an order of acquisition of pertinent properties of writing. The order demonstrated was strongly dependent on the interaction of three factors : investigation situation, cognitive functioning and school learning.
