The development of public housing companies in Sweden is strongly influenced by legal, economic, and demographic changes. The companies long tradition of taking responsibility for customer welfare in living have recently been criticized for excessive dominance over price setting, which is claimed to give them competitive advantages in the housing market. New legislation in 2011 requires financial return on investment, implying increased competition with radical changes for the companies. Because of the law, they find themselves transitioning from the role of being responsible for living conditions in Sweden to having to work in a businesslike manner with increased competition.The purpose of this dissertation is to analyze how the public housing companies' deal with market orientation constructs and what their impact is on construction strategy choices. Theoretically, the market orientation concept is seen as a tool for companies to create superior value for the customers and influence strategic performance, which is a relationship tested and analyzed in this dissertation.The research was conducted through data collection stages using qualitative and quantitative methods. In the first stage, a qualitative pilot study was conducted with interviews of 15 managers in 11 public housing companies in central Sweden. In the second stage, two quantitative comparative studies of public and private housing companies in declining markets in central Sweden were conducted, collecting data from 23 (22 survey respondents) public and 37 private housing companies (16 respondents). In the third and final stage, two quantitative studies were conducted, collecting data from all 289 public housing companies (165 respondents) in Sweden.Results of the five studies show, firstly, that economic condition in the municipality have a major impact on the housing companies' construction strategies, causing them to act innovatively in order to create superior customer value. Purpose
The purpose of this study is to develop and validate the business streamlining (BS) model proposed in 2017.


Design/methodology/approach
This study/paper develops and validates the qualitatively generated BS model, a conceptual model of service sourcing relationships, by testing it quantitatively. A survey was sent to chief exective officers, chief purchasing officers or facility managers in 764 private or public companies in Sweden with an annual turnover exceeding € 10m. The categories were tested and analyzed by means of factor analysis.


Findings
The BS model for managing service sourcing processes was confirmed to be significant overall, meaning that it is applicable irrespective of service sourcing context. The efficiency pursuing (EP) was found to have an interlinking role that calls for a revision of the BS model. Furthermore, the four categories tended to load pairwise.


Research limitations/implications
Although this cross-sectional study confirms the relevance of the BS model for managing service-sourcing processes, further studies should examine both the relative significance of its categories in different service-sourcing contexts and why the four main categories tend to pair.


Practical implications
The results support that the model is flexible and adaptable to a wide range of service-sourcing circumstances. Irrespective of the relative complexity of facility management (FM) sourcing processes, the categories can be adapted to fit the service sourcing context. Thus, it can be used as a tool to analyze and facilitate strategic decision-making.


Originality/value
The paper validates that the BS model can represent the dynamics of different service-sourcing processes, regardless of the complexity of the context.

D‐optimal mixture design looked to be a priceless tool for optimizing the influences of semolina flour (SF), defatted soy flour (DSF), whole quinoa flour (WQF), whole rye flour (WRF), whole oat flour (WOF), whole barley flour (WBF), and rice flour (RF) on the quality attributes of multigrain pasta (MP). Multigrain flours were considered as the independent variables evaluated with respect to three response variables containing hardness and the amount of protein and fiber. Quadratic, linear, and linear models were chosen to explain the hardness and the amount of protein and fiber of the MPs, respectively. In optimal formulation of MP, that is, SF (57.34%,), DSF (14%), WQF (11%), WRF (7.54%), WOF (5.61%), WBF (2.51%), and RF (2%), the content of fiber and protein enhanced more than 4.12 and 1.34 times compared with SP, respectively. Therefore, according to the European Union law, it can be claimed that this pasta is a source of fiber. As the amount of protein and fiber increased, the hardness and optimal cooking time decreased, while the cooking loss increased. After cooking, MP was murkier and less yellow in color. The 2, 2‐ diphenyl‐ 1‐ picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) inhibition activity of the MP was about 2.5 times higher than the SP. Analysis of the antioxidant properties of the samples after cooking showed that the DPPH inhibition activity of the SP and MP reduced. The results indicated that the overall acceptability of MP was higher than SP.
