This article examines the relationship between knowledge produced by social theorists and the social events that occurred before and during their lifetime. The aim of the paper is to identify the social events and how they shaped the thoughts and knowledge produced by the selected theorists. This was approached through a review of secondary literature and narrative style to analyse the sourced materials. The paper examined three social theorists, philosophers or thinkers: Ibn Khaldun, Hegel and Comte. The study found that the knowledge produced by these theorists have traversed beyond disciplines classified as social sciences. It shows that the knowledge produced is intertwined with what happened before and during the time they lived which is reflected in their intellectual works. The paper submits that knowledge cannot be separated from the social reality of its producer. Therefore, the paper concludes that social theorists examined thought and wrote based on the social realities they encountered.

The aftermath of the Iranian revolution and emergence of Shia Immamiya as the religion of government in Iran in 1979. The Razavi charitable Endowment under the Iran's supreme religious leader has been spending a lot of money, especially in Africa to indoctrinate and convert Muslims to Shia. The paper traced the origin of Shia in Nigeria. Identified the factors that facilitated the spread of Shia in Nigeria. A desk review methodology was adopted. The study found out that the Iranian government has devoted a lot of funds to Africa and under the pretext of aid in the area of building Mosques, establishing schools and giving the scholarship to study in Iran. It has been observed that ignorance of Shia among most Islamic scholars, teachers, and preachers has contributed its spread until when Nigerians started studying in Universities in Saudi Arabia, the real identity of Shia is known.

The paper examines the politics of security deployment by the Federal Government of Nigeria to Jos, metropolis. A cross-sectional study was conducted and Public Opinion Theory adopted. Methodologically, mixed methods of data collection were conducted that involved the administration of 377 questionnaires to adult respondents, six In-Depth Interviews with religious and community leaders while three Key Informant Interviews with security personnel working with Special Task Force. The survey reveals that, the deployment of Mobile Police from 2001-2010 and the formation of Special Task Force in 2010 has generated mixed reactions and divergent perceptions among the residents of Jos metropolis. Majority of the ethnic groups that are predominantly Christians were more contented with the deployment of the Mobile Police whereas ethnic groups that are dominantly Muslims questioned the neutrality, capability, performance and strength of the Nigerian Police Force in managing the crises. The study recommends that, security personnel should display high degree of neutrality in order to earn the confidence of the residents and change their perceptions.
