Abstract United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are becoming an increasingly important theme for researchers in multiple fields to investigate. In this paper we look at the process of how 6G researchers and other experts identified ways in which mobile communications is linked with the UN SDGs while writing a new 6G white paper on the topic. In a team of around 40 members consisting of representatives of academia, industry, and governmental bodies, we developed a sustainable vision for 6G, identified linkages between 6G mobile communications and the UN SDGs, and came up with a preliminary plan of action for how to reach the set goals, all published in a white paper. It is to be noted that the technological development for 6G is very much in its infancy, thus we concentrated our work on mobile communications in general and looked at the possible linkages between 6G and the UN SDG's from the perspective of what could be and what should be. In this paper we look into the detailed operations of the expert group and describe the mapping process for finding the linkage between the UN SDGs and 6G in a way that may guide other researchers in related endeavours. The aim of this paper is threefold: 1) to briefly present the relevant linkages between the UN SDGs and mobile communications, 2) to look at the process of identifying the relevant UN SDGs for mobile communications research from a theoretical perspective, and 3) to formulate a working mapping process to be widely adopted. We will describe the background, i.e. the findings of the white paper expert group, and then move on to describing the process itself, and finally present a mapping process to be adopted.

Abstract In the recent years, the University of Oulu has taken an active role in supporting its research in social sciences and humanities (SSH). The support has manifested itself in the introduction of new structures such as the "Eudaimonia Institute", established in the early 2010s to promote and coordinate multi- and cross-disciplinary research in human sciences. "Eudaimonia" constitutes a community in which researchers are provided a collegial and supportive environment for carrying out research. It also serves as a platform in the new service concept called "Rapid Research Radicals" (3R), which aims to develop collaborative excellence and new openings in research. Connected to this, "Tellus Innovation Arena" offers methods and facilitation expertise to support various forms of collaboration. In addition to this, "Oulu Think Tank of Science and Society", which operates under the auspices of the "Eudaimonia Institute", was established to facilitate the interaction between scientists in SSH and the broader society. The "Oulu Think Tank" aims to produce policy-relevant research of internationally high standard, and to offer its expertise to different parties, such as companies and science policy makers. The SSH community has also been successfully included in the development of the university's strategy4 and profiling measures. ; Abstract In den letzten Jahren hat die Universität von Oulu eine aktive Rolle bei der Unterstützung ihrer Forschung in den Sozial- und Geisteswissenschaften (SSH) übernommen. Die Unterstützung manifestierte sich in der Einführung neuer Strukturen wie dem "Eudaimonia Institute", das Anfang der 2010er Jahre gegründet wurde, um die multi- und interdisziplinäre Forschung am Menschen zu fördern und diese Wissenschaften zu koordinieren. "Eudaimonia" ist eine Gemeinschaft, in der Forschern ein kollegiales und unterstützendes Umfeld für die Durchführung von Forschungen geboten wird. Es dient auch als Plattform für das neue Servicekonzept "Rapid Research Radicals" (3R), das auf die Entwicklung kooperativer Spitzenleistungen und neuer Forschungsmöglichkeiten abzielt. In diesem Zusammenhang bietet die "Tellus Innovation Arena" Methoden und Moderationsexpertise zur Unterstützung verschiedener Formen der Zusammenarbeit. Darüber hinaus wurde die "Oulu Think Tank von Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft" Gesellschaft gegründet, die unter der Schirmherrschaft des "Eudaimonia-Instituts" operiert, um die Interaktion zwischen Wissenschaftlern in SSH und der Gesellschaft im weiteren Sinne zu erleichtern. Der "Oulu Think Tank" zielt darauf ab, politikrelevante Forschung auf international hohem Niveau zu produzieren und sein Know-how verschiedenen Parteien wie Unternehmen und Wissenschaftspolitikern zur Verfügung zu stellen. Die SSH-Community wurde auch erfolgreich in die Entwicklung der Universitätsstrategie und der Profilierungsmaßnahmen einbezogen.

A prominent jet-driven outflow of CO(2-1) molecular gas is found along the kinematic minor axis of the Seyfert 2 galaxy ESO 420-G13, at a distance of 340-600 pc from the nucleus. The wind morphology resembles the characteristic funnel shape, formed by a highly collimated filamentary emission at the base, and likely traces the jet propagation through a tenuous medium, until a bifurcation point at 440 pc. Here the jet hits a dense molecular core and shatters, dispersing the molecular gas into several clumps and filaments within the expansion cone. We also trace the jet in ionised gas within the inner ≲ 340 pc using the [Ne » II]12.8 μm line emission, where the molecular gas follows a circular rotation pattern. The wind outflow carries a mass of ∼8 × 106 M⊙ at an average wind projected speed of ∼160 km s-1, which implies a mass outflow rate of ∼14 M⊙ yr-1. Based on the structure of the outflow and the budget of energy and momentum, we discard radiation pressure from the active nucleus, star formation, and supernovae as possible launching mechanisms. ESO 420-G13 is the second case after NGC 1377 where a previously unknown jet is revealed through its interaction with the interstellar medium, suggesting that unknown jets in feeble radio nuclei might be more common than expected. Two possible jet-cloud configurations are discussed to explain an outflow at this distance from the AGN. The outflowing gas will likely not escape, thus a delay in the star formation rather than quenching is expected from this interaction, while the feedback effect would be confined within the central few hundred parsecs of the galaxy. ; With funding from the Spanish government through the "María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence" accreditation (MDM-2017-0737)

We present results from Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) observations of CS from the nearby galaxy NGC 1068 (∼14 Mpc). This Seyfert 2 barred galaxy possesses a circumnuclear disc (CND, r ∼ 200 pc) and a starburst ring (SB ring, r ∼ 1.3 kpc). These high-resolution maps (∼0.5 arcsec, ∼35 pc) allow us to analyse specific sub-regions in the galaxy and investigate differences in line intensity ratios and physical conditions, particularly those between the CND and SB ring. Local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE) analysis of the gas is used to calculate CS densities in each sub-region, followed by the non-LTE analysis conducted using the radiative transfer code RADEX to fit observations and constrain gas temperature, CS column density and hydrogen density. Finally, the chemical code UCLCHEM is used to reconstruct the gas, allowing an insight into its origin and chemical history. The density of hydrogen in the CND is found to be >105 cm∼2, although exact values vary, reaching 106 cmr2 at the active galactic nucleus. The conditions in the two arms of the SB ring appear similar to one another, though the density found (∼104 cm∼2) is lower than in the CND. The temperature in the CND increases from east to west, and is also overall greater than found in the SB ring. These modelling methods indicate the requirement for multiphase gas components in order to fit the observed emission over the galaxy. We present the first data release of high-resolution (≤0.2 arcsec) 1.5-GHz radio images of 103 nearby galaxies from the Palomar sample, observed with the eMERLIN array, as part of the LeMMINGs survey. This sample includes galaxies which are active (low-ionization nuclear emission-line regions [LINER] and Seyfert) and quiescent (H II galaxies and absorption line galaxies, ALGs), which are reclassified based upon revised emission-line diagrams.We detect radio emission ≳0.2 mJy for 47/103 galaxies (22/34 for LINERS, 4/4 for Seyferts, 16/51 for HII galaxies, and 5/14 for ALGs) with radio sizes typically of ≲100 pc. We identify the radio core position within the radio structures for 41 sources. Half of the sample shows jetted morphologies. The remaining half shows single radio cores or complex morphologies. LINERs show radio structures more core-brightened than Seyferts. Radio luminosities of the sample range from 10 to 10 erg s: LINERs and HII galaxies show the highest and lowest radio powers, respectively, while ALGs and Seyferts have intermediate luminosities. We find that radio core luminosities correlate with black hole (BH) mass down to ~10 M, but a break emerges at lower masses. Using [OIII] line luminosity as a proxy for the accretion luminosity, active nuclei and jetted HII galaxies follow an optical Fundamental Plane of BH activity, suggesting a common disc-jet relationship. In conclusion, LINER nuclei are the scaled-down version of FR I radio galaxies; Seyferts show less collimated jets; HII galaxies may host weak active BHs and/or nuclear star-forming cores; and recurrent BH activity may account for ALG properties.© 2018 The Author(s). ; The authors thank the referee for a quick publication and the helpful comments from A.
