The influence of J. K. Gibson-Graham's (1996) attempt to reconceptualize class on the relationship between economics & class in contemporary queer studies is investigated. The author's application of a queer theory approach to the analysis of the connection between class, capitalism, & sexuality in Horatio Alger's writings is discussed. In addition, the author's recognition of long-standing homosexual economies while enrolled in graduate school & discovery that both homosexual & bourgeois men participated in the male market are explored. Current queer theory is reproached for disregarding issues of class, capital, & capitalism. Implications of Gibson-Graham's identification of feudal economic elements in present-day class & gender relations for the analysis of homosexual & heterosexual social relations are weighed. It is hoped that Gibson-Graham's text will encourage cultural studies scholars to study existing economic systems. 12 References. J. W. Parker
