Nonprofit good governance mechanisms: A systematic literature review
In: Nonprofit management & leadership, Band 34, Heft 4, S. 927-957
ISSN: 1542-7854
AbstractThere is widespread acknowledgment of the importance of nonprofit good governance with a need for guidance on different effective mechanisms to increase ethical practices for the whole sector to assist professionals and researchers. This study explores two research questions: (1) What are the main reasons that inspire nonprofit organizations (NPOs) to implement good governance mechanisms? (2) What are the good governance mechanisms conducted by NPOs? The purpose is to serve as a reference and an instrument of reflection for interested NPOs exploring good governance mechanisms to make their accountability work more effective. We used a systematic literature review methodology for identification, selection, and analysis of published research on nonprofit good governance. A set of 89 articles published until 2021 was analyzed, and a new classification that identified 3 lines and 13 sublines of research was provided. Our results show that a variety of internal mechanisms and international third‐party initiatives are underpinned by the need to adhere to standards of ethics and honesty.

A Systematic Literature Review of Teamwork Pedagogy in Higher Education
In: Small group research: an international journal of theory, investigation, and application, Band 47, Heft 6, S. 619-664
ISSN: 1552-8278
Teamwork pedagogy has received considerable attention across a wide range of academic literature. Yet employers continue to argue that universities need to do more to better prepare graduates to work in team-based environments. Grounded in the social constructivist paradigm, this article uses a two-phase systematic literature review methodology to explore the conditions and influences affording or constraining teamwork pedagogy. A complementary thematic analysis of the articles revealed two broad themes: pedagogy and transaction costs. In almost all 57 articles, a range of factors influencing teamwork pedagogy were elaborated. Temporal, fiscal, and human resource transaction costs were identified as constraints in the application of teamwork pedagogy. An overlap of educator, student, and institutional factors are discussed as contributing to the transaction costs of implementing process-oriented teamwork pedagogy. However, the interdependent interactions among educators and students, within and across institutions, remained largely underexplored and are presented as part of a future research agenda.

Blockchain in general management and economics: a systematic literature review
In: European business review, Band 32, Heft 4, S. 765-783
ISSN: 1758-7107
Purpose
This paper aims to provide a systematic review of the literature addressing blockchain technology (BT) in general management and economics (GME).
Design/methodology/approach
A systematic literature review methodology is used to collect and analyze the literature.
Findings
Three clusters of research are identified, namely, law, economy and innovation. The use of BT in law areas fosters the registration of intellectual property (IP) rights, although conflict between some of BT applications and regulatory frameworks is present. Research on cryptocurrencies is of high interest to the economy today. In the innovation cluster, BT improves security, traceability and transparency in operations over supply chains. However, BT has many technical imperfections that hinder its wide adoption. Furthermore, the need for the full commitment of all business actors complicates its implementation. Research on BT is still at a nascent stage. Conceptual papers dominate the literature (18 theories are discussed). Eight main future research directions are described. For example, the relationship between the use of BT in supply chains and competitive advantage is not established; and quality standards for BT platforms are not developed.
Research limitations/implications
The review is restricted to academic journals in the fields of GME, which limits the extent of the conclusions.
Originality/value
The paper synthesizes 47 studies published in academic journals, avoiding misleading claims and inaccurate information insofar as possible; and provides a spectrum of descriptive statistics and qualitative meta-synthesis analysis of the current literature.
Generative Participatory Design Methodology to Develop Electronic Health Interventions: Systematic Literature Review
Background: Generative participatory design (PD) may help in developing electronic health (eHealth) interventions. PD is characterized by the involvement of all stakeholders in creative activities. This is different from the traditional user-centered design, where users are less involved. When looking at PD from a research through design perspective, it is important to summarize the reasons for choosing a certain form of generative PD to further develop its methodology. However, the scientific literature is currently unclear about which forms of PD are used to develop eHealth and which arguments are used to substantiate the decision to use a certain form of generative PD. Objective: This study aimed to explore the reporting and substantiation of generative PD methodologies in empirical eHealth studies published in scientific journals to further develop PD methodology in the field of eHealth. Methods: A systematic literature review following the Cochrane guidelines was conducted in several databases (EMBASE, MEDLINE Ovid, Web of Science, and CINAHL EBSCOhost). Data were extracted on the recruitment and management of stakeholders, the use of tools, and the use of outcome measures. Results: Of the 3131 studies initially identified, 69 were selected for qualitative synthesis. The reporting was very variable, depending to a large extent on whether the study stated that reporting on the PD process was a major aim. The different levels of reporting and substantiation of the choices of a recruitment strategy, stakeholder management, and tools and outcome measures are presented. Only a few authors explicitly used arguments directly related to PD guiding principles such as democratic, mutual learning, tacit and latent knowledge, and collective creativity. Even though PD principles were not always explicitly discussed in the method descriptions of the studies, they were implicitly present, mostly in the descriptions of the use of PD tools. The arguments used to substantiate the choices made in stakeholder management, PD tools, and the type of outcome measures adopted point to the involvement of PD principles. Conclusions: Studies that have used a PD research methodology to develop eHealth primarily substantiate the choice of tools made and much less the use of stakeholders and outcome measures.

Dividend policy and information uncertainty: a systematic literature review
In: http://hdl.handle.net/10400.1/3323
Dissertação de mest., Finanças Corporativas, Faculdade de Economia, Univ. do Algarve, 2012 ; This study is a systematic literature review of two areas of the finance literature: dividend policy and information uncertainty. My objective is identifying suitable research gaps to be explored at the PhD level. A brief overview of the thematic under analysis is presented in the first part of the study. Subsequently, a detailed analysis of the systematic literature review methodology is provided, including both the search strategy employed and the different selection criteria used. The last part presents the results. My main conclusion is that both themes have received considerable attention from many finance scholars but some interesting research questions still remain unsettled, providing the context for future research in the field.

Methodology for Applying Systematic Literature Review in a Study of Online Youth Radicalization
In: Teorija i praktika obščestvennogo razvitija: meždunarodnyj naučnyj žurnal : sociologija, ėkonomika, pravo, Heft 4, S. 67-74
ISSN: 2072-7623
The article deals with the problems of online youth radicalization in modern conditions. It is indicated that soci-ologists identify a scientific problem as the absence in the Russian research field of a general theoretical and methodological concept of radicalization, especially online radicalization. The author of the article attempts a comprehensive systematic analysis of the phenomenon of online radicalization. Consequently, the article pre-sents a detailed methodology for the application of a systematic review literature in the study of online youth radicalization. The validity and advantages of using this method are pointed out. Based on the qualitative anal-ysis of the sources selected during the study, some approaches to the study of the phenomenon of online radi-calization are presented and analyzed. The necessity of conceptualizing the concept of radicalization, highlight-ing the risk factors of radicalization at various levels is revealed. One of the advantages of this work is the indi-cation of limitations that have been empirically identified and will be taken into account in future works.
How does servitisation affect supply chain circularity? – A systematic literature review
In: Journal of enterprise information management: an international journal, Band 33, Heft 4, S. 703-728
ISSN: 1758-7409
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to test the link between servitisation and circular economy by synthesising the effect of product-service systems (PSS) on supply chain circularity (SCC).Design/methodology/approachFollowing a systematic literature review methodology, the study identified 67 studies and synthesised them using content analysis.FindingsA conceptual model is developed illustrating how PSS business models impact SCC through increased product longevity, closure of resource loops and resource efficiency. It also identifies six contextual factors affecting the implementation of SCC including: economic attractiveness of SCC; firm sustainability strategy; policy and societal environment; product category; supply chain relationships; and technology.Research limitations/implicationsThe conceptual model proposes that SCC increases with servitisation. It also proposes that the main circularity effect stems from increased product longevity, followed by closed resource loops and finally resource efficiency. The model is deduced from the literature by using secondary data.Practical implicationsThe review provides practitioners with a framework to increase SCC through PSS business models. It also gives insight into the various contextual factors that may affect how a manufacturer's servitisation strategy contributes to SCC.Originality/valueThis review contributes to the understanding of the relationship between servitisation and SCC by synthesising the different effects that exist. Moreover, it creates new knowledge by identifying a range of contextual factors affecting the relationship between PSS and SCC.
Organizational Learning in the Academic Literature – Systematic Literature Review
The European Union (EU) promotes European innovation. Diverse stakeholders have opportunities to create knowledge by engaging in innovation projects. So-ciety expects that projects review how they impact on the community and how they share knowledge and deliver outcomes. This systematic literature review is based on a key word search and analysis of a final sample of 31 academic papers by extracting relevant data from the articles into a Data Extraction Table (DET). Results indicate that four main themes discussed emerge from the sam-ple literature: ICT alignment, Organisational Culture, Innovation Culture, and ICT-readiness. Organizational Learning approaches can provide a framework to design methodology for conducting Societal Impact Assessment, and E-skills and Training. This study specifically adds to the body of knowledge of ap-proaches to organisational learning This perspective can provide additional el-ements towards the development of a more comprehensive Societal Impact As-sessment Toolkit and E-skills and Training Toolkit for the ECHO project.

Stakeholder management: a systematic literature review
In: Corporate governance: international journal of business in society, Band 19, Heft 1, S. 44-59
ISSN: 1758-6054
PurposeThe stakeholder theory is a prominent management approach that has primarily been adopted in the past few years. Despite the increase in the theory's use, a limited number of studies have discussed ways to develop, execute and measure the results of using this strategic approach with stakeholders. This study aims to address this gap in the literature by conducting a systematic review of the stakeholder management process.Design/methodology/approachFive databases were selected to search articles published from 1985 to 2015. The keywords used were stakeholder management, stakeholder relationship and stakeholder engagement. Starting from 2,457 articles identified using a keyword search, 33 key journal articles were systematically reviewed using both bibliometric and qualitative methods for analysis.FindingsThe results highlight that stakeholder management is increasingly embedded in corporate activities, and that the coming of the internet, social networking and Big Data have put more pressure on companies to develop new tools and techniques to manage stakeholders online. In conclusion, synthesizing the findings and developed framework allows the understanding of different streams of research and identifies future steps for research.Originality/valueWhile literature reviews are a widespread practice in business studies, only a few more recent reviews use the systematic review methodology that aggregates knowledge using clearly defined processes and criteria. This is the first review on stakeholder management in which the structure is existing knowledge on strategy development, execution and the measurement of performance.

Volunteer Tourism: A Systematic Literature Review
In: Sage open, Band 14, Heft 2
ISSN: 2158-2440
In recent years, volunteer tourism has flourished as an alternative to traditional tourism aimed at fostering reciprocity between participants and the host community. Although this led to an increasing interest among scholars, little attention has been given on identifying the current state of knowledge on volunteer tourism. This systematic literature review is designed to evaluate the academic literature on volunteer tourism in terms of the research methodology, population, geographical location, theoretical framework, and research topics. Using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology, this paper covers 184 articles published in Web of Science database from January 2010 to December 2021. Findings reveal that most of the research on volunteer tourism have been conducted from a qualitative approach taking volunteer tourists as study sample. Results show that previous literature on volunteer tourism have been focused on the following perspectives: studies focused on the experience of key stakeholders, studies aimed at understanding the volunteer tourism industry, studies on volunteer tourism as it relates to sustainable development, and studies focused on volunteer tourism and global citizenship. The analysis of current state of knowledge about volunteer tourism also suggests several directions for further research in this domain.
