War and combat exposure pose great risks to the vision system. More recently, vision related deficiencies and impairments have become common with the increased use of powerful explosive devices and the subsequent rise in incidence of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Studies have looked at the effects of injury severity, aetiology of injury and the stage at which visual problems become apparent. There was little discrepancy found between the frequencies or types of visual dysfunctions across blast and non-blast related groups, however complete sight loss appeared to occur only in those who had a blast-related injury. Generally, the more severe the injury, the greater the likelihood of specific visual disturbances occurring, and a study found total sight loss to only occur in cases with greater severity. Diagnosis of mild TBI (mTBI) is challenging. Being able to identify a potential TBI via visual symptoms may offer a new avenue for diagnosis.

The new National Commission for Allied and Health Care professions (NCAHCP) bill 2020 is introduced by the Government of India on September 15, 2020, to streamline the cadres in the country for allied and health-care professions within its health systems for the greater public good. It is very pertinent to understand the implications of the NCAHCP bill for All India Occupational therapists Association (AIOTA) and occupational therapists in India. The implications for AIOTA are (1) development of state councils and enabling their functioning in all the states of India, (2) radical revision of the OT curriculum incorporating policies and programs of the Indian health system, and (3) developing and strengthening the existing systems for OT practice. For occupational therapists, the implications are (1) registering to independently practice OT in India and (2) documenting professional practice for ethical integrity. Forming an advisory board to develop strategies for a smooth transition to the opportunities that the NCAHCP bill provides, must hold the top-most priority for AIOTA.

This book is a cumulative work that covers ureteral anatomy, physiology, and disorders. It aims to highlight the ureters by bringing together national and international experts in their respective fields to discuss ureteral pathology and management of ureteral disease. Chapters discussing ureteral trauma, injury, obstruction, stones, cancers, surgeries, and tissue engineering will enhance patient care and introduce us to the future of ureteral surgery. At the very least, this book will improve overall medical knowledge on these often ignored but vital urinary structures

The article deals with the key issues of philosophy in physiology, one of the basic sciences of natural science. The problem of the particular and the general is discussed using the example of the ratio of individual cells, organs in the formation of the functions of an integral organism; the relevance of the individual is especially significant in the current trend towards the analysis of huge data sets (big data). The criterion of complexity is analyzed by comparing individuals performing physiological functions, from unicellular organisms to huge animals. The similarity of the morpho-functional organization of objects in physiology, linguistics, computer science, technical systems has been revealed. In the evolution of living organisms, an internal environment was formed in which cells live. Physiological systems provide homeostasis – the constancy of the physical and chemical parameters of the fluids of the internal environment, which requires a philosophical understanding of the standard in living organisms in comparison with the physical constants of the surrounding world. The question of personal freedom in its physiological understanding is discussed. The philosophical problem is analyzed, why everything happens the way it is and not otherwise. The conclusion is devoted to the relationship between reason and feelings in their philosophical and physiological senses.

The Human Factors Group at Kodak Park has been actively studying industrial jobs for ten years. Some of the most useful techniques of analysis are provided by the discipline of work physiology. This approach can be used: 1. To decide if a specific job is within the physical capabilities of people. 2. To decide which of two proposed methods is easier. 3. To evaluate in laboratory simulations the demands that will be posed by new jobs while they are still in the design stage. 4. To determine if a specific individual is able to perform certain jobs. 5. To rank jobs according to physical difficulty for wage and salary purposes. These applications are illustrated by discussing studies of actual industrial jobs.
