Edible insects are appealing assemblage of organisms with varied nutritional aspects ranging from high quality protein natural fat vitamins fibre contents and diverse minerals. It is now a known fact that the world populace would crawl to insect-based foods after the insect to feed the world conference and world edible insect programmes as food shortages are alarming and climatic considerations are on the rise. With yearn for food everywhere start-up and scaling up insect-based food production to complement the wants of man is significantly required. That edible insect incorporated food would be realised is the need for this review as how and why it should be actualized is the major question. Positive reports exhibit that persons in various localities of the world are accustomed to eating whole insects due to taste and confirmed delicacy while others due to food contamination. How and why are the major questions on the lips of many inquisitive persons and once this is redressed the population of persons to be initiated would be highly significant at a P 0.05 level. How the proposition would be redressed is through the inclusion criteria of potentially suitable edible insect species stereotyped conditions of breeding detailed intensive care of insect nutritional structure and profile and risk assessments to combat threat in hygienic and toxicology aspects. Once the aforesaid factors are made readily available edible insects edible insects would fully be implemented as food into the world legislation brochures. Breeding includes treatment as mini-livestock or in mechanized breeding facilities and not the stressful harvesting from the wild. That their benefits are very diverse and large quantity is guaranteed if properly treated answers the Why Cultural social psychological and western bias are key note barriers already been fully redressed to realize the high prevalence in entomophagy and production of insect-based food products. Notwithstanding a few insect-based products including fresh pasta from mealworm flour ...

The main objective of this deliverable is to evaluate consumers' WTP for organic products and compare both with existing brands as the exclusive signal of quality and with additional signals incorporated. We used an experimental market and we determined consumer's willingness to pay (WTP) for produce grown with different pesticide levels. For our experimental markets conducted in Portugal (April, 2009), France (May, 2009)and Greece (February, 2010) consumers' WTP were estimate using the apple example, for three levels of pesticide reduction: i) "Regular": apples produced in the respect of the legal legislation. These apples don't have any cue. ii) Integrated Pest Management (IPM): apples produced with a decrease of the pesticides' use. In our experimental markets, IPM strategy involved three different signals with a "generic" IPM certification, a retailer brand and a protected designation of origin, (iii) "Organic": apples produced without any synthesis pesticides. More recently, we conducted the experimental market in Netherlands (October,2010). In this country, we tested two types of organic certification: The conventional organic certification, tested in the previous countries (where no chemical pesticides have been used in 3 the production process) and a certification "Organic Plus" where no chemical and organic pesticides have been used. After showing that consumers' premium for pesticide reduction is not independent from the product's sensory attributes, we give the quantitative results for the consumers WTP for a pesticide reduction. It should be noted that demand for organic products seems relatively important in the EU countries that we tested. However in Netherlands, organic production seems to be less valued by the consumers. Countries where the experimental auctions were conducted do not necessarily correspond to countries where income levels are highest in the EU (specifically for Portugal and Greece). Moreover, we show that the income is not significant to explain the premium for organic products. ...

ABSTRACT
This case is based on an actual inventory accounting dilemma for a fish processing company located in Washington State. Rex Seafood, Incorporated (Rex) and its wholly owned subsidiary, Juneau Supply Company, purchase, process, and sell fish to restaurants and other retail outlets in the state of Washington and surrounding inland states. Rex has an agreement with Condor Enterprises to transport fish purchased from Juneau Supply in Alaska to Rex's facility in Washington for processing. The central issue of the case involves appropriate accounting and reporting for intercompany sales: How should the sales of inventory from Juneau Supply to Condor and the purchases by Rex from Condor be recorded and reported? Using the FASB Accounting Standards Codification, students must determine whether Rex's arrangement with Condor is a product financing arrangement, whether the purchases and sales of inventory should be considered a single exchange transaction, and whether the events should be considered intercompany transactions. In addition, students are asked to consider recording and disclosure implications of recommended solutions. This case is suitable for use in undergraduate Intermediate and graduate Financial Accounting classes.

With the treatment of waste set to increase -- since the volume of waste is closely related to economic growth -- waste transport will be a major challenge in the future. This raises several issues. Should transport regulations be made more stringent and their implementation reviewed? Should the proximity principle -- incorporated in the regulations in the interests of environmental protection -- be questioned, since it prevents the consolidation of flows in sufficient volume to make the most environmentally-friendly modes of transport viable?. The environmental performance of waste transport

AbstractThis paper studies how product design and pricing strategies are affected by the existing relationship between the characteristics that integrate the product. The analysis shows that complementarity and low substitutability encourage the provision of quality incorporated to the products and increase the quality distortion and cannibalization problems that are common in segmented markets. A two‐product strategy with a common attribute is shown to be a feasible strategy for reasons other than cost savings, namely attribute dependence. In addition, menu pricing is found to be the most profitable strategy, and a commonality strategy is more profitable than a common‐product strategy.

The physicochemical, nutritional, sensorial and morphological properties of chicken frankfurters incorporated with selected vegetables (baby corn, cabbage, and carrot) were investigated. The incorporation of selected vegetables to formulate chicken frankfurters yielded significant differences in proximate compositions among the samples; the moisture, ash, fat, protein, and carbohydrate contents were 67.16 - 66.39%, 1.90 - 2.40%, 5.33 - 7.47%, 14.53 - 15.68%, and 8.75 - 11.09%, respectively. The folding test and pH values in control frankfurter (with the score of 5.00; pH 6.84) and chicken frankfurters incorporated with baby corn (with the score of 5.00; pH 6.88) showed significant difference as compared to commercial chicken frankfurter (with the score of 3.83; pH 6.70). Chicken frankfurters incorporated with baby corn and cabbage were significantly harder than commercial frankfurter due to different levels of fat. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) on formulated frankfurters displayed less dense microstructure and prominent presence of fat globules as compared to control and commercial chicken frankfurters. Sensory evaluation on formulated and commercial frankfurters showed almost similar result in overall acceptance score. All formulated chicken frankfurters did not show significant difference in texture profiles (adhesiveness and springiness attributes). In conclusion, the incorporation of selected vegetables in chicken frankfurters yielded nutritional product, and decreased the costs of production without affecting the sensory attributes.
The "Serra da Estrela" is the most well-known Portuguese cheese, made from ewe's milk for centuries, granted a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) in 1996 by the European Union. To this date, not many studies have been carried out regarding the nutritional profile of this cheese. Chestnut flowers are usually leftovers of the nut harvest, and, being a very interesting flower in terms of antioxidants and antimicrobials, the incorporation of this by-product into the cheese may be of interest to both the farmers and food industry. For one, it could become an additional source of income for the agrarian, while being a natural antimicrobial and antioxidant, reducing the need of chemical conservatives, which is a growing concern among the food industries. Herein, nutritional profiles of three samples are reported: control cheese, cheese incorporated with lyophilized powdered flower and cheese incorporated with lyophilized flower decoction. The main differences regarding macronutrients composition and energetic value will be assessed, along with an overview of individual free sugars, tocopherols and fatty acids.

A compact, robust Koch fractal combined triangular monopole antenna incorporated with a Sierpinski fractal EBG unit cell array is proposed for integral solutions of wearable devices in WLAN standards. The fractal enabled EBG-Antenna has a modified triangular microstrip that acts as a radiator and a 2X2 array of Sierpinski square EBG unit cells as a reflective surface to enhance the performance also as a shield linking the antenna and human body. The proposed antenna demonstrations and impedance match bandwidth of 32 MHz, a gain of 7.86 dBi, Front to back ratio of 13 dB, Radiation Efficiency of 90.35 % at 2.45 GHz in free space. The EBG-Antenna performs well under different bending conditions and human tissue loading as verified by measurements. The specific absorption rate (SAR) is also evaluated and found within limits as per standards. The computed results accomplished the SAR of 0.302 W/Kg, 0.1423 W/Kg for 1 g, 10 g of tissue, respectively, which demonstrates about a 95 % drop associated with the antenna without EBG. Furthermore, the fractal loading makes the antenna compact; EBG introduced at the underside of the monopole antenna gives a high gain-bandwidth product and disengages the human body and the antenna, making the realized antenna a potential candidate with possible seamless incorporation of specified wearable applications in WLAN standards.
