The forests of the earth are not only the source of a wealth of products such as timber, pulp, and charcoal, but are also of great importance in the absorption of carbon dioxide. Therefore, it takes little consideration to understand the dangers of overexploitation caused by economic development and population growth. With an eye on forest conservation and increasing carbon dioxide fixation, exploration of the extension of product life and the expansion of product recycling plays an important role in the sustainable utilization of forest products. To that end, technology must be developed both to make use of and to preserve the forests. The arguments put forward in this book are broad and diverse, but the contributors have a common goal - the sustainable exploitation of forest resources in tandem with a greater awareness of the environment. This approach is sure to be valuable to all those who are concerned with making the best possible use of the world's forest resources
