Britain and the Weimar Republic: the history of a cultural relationship
In: International library of twentieth century history Vol. 29
Between the two world wars, Germany managed, despite all the political upheavals it was experiencing, to attract extremely large numbers of British travellers and tourists. During the Weimar period in particular, Germany attracted visitors from virtually every section of British society.Based on original research and using striking examples from intellectual life and literature, Colin Storer moves beyond the traditional scholarly focus on figures such as Christopher Isherwood and John Maynard Keynes to provide the first broad comparative study of British intellectual attitudes towards Weimar Germany. This book highlights the diversity of British attitudes, challenges received opinions on areas such as the 'inevitable collapse' of the Republic, and seeks to establish why Weimar Germany was so appealing to such a variety of individuals.

The Relationship between Cultural Intelligence and Cross-cultural Adjustment
In: Periodica polytechnica. Social and management sciences, Band 32, Heft 2, S. 192-204
ISSN: 1587-3803
The paper advances knowledge in the field of international human resource management (HRM) by elaborating on the relationship between cultural intelligence and cross-cultural adjustment, which has important implications for the productivity of an organisation whose employees form multicultural teams or operate in foreign locations and thus its international competitiveness. The basic axis of the relationship is extended into a complex model in which three categories of factors are reflected in parallel: the mental adjustment of the individual (expressed by the variables of life satisfaction and ethnocentrism), the contextual influence of the environment (operationalised as a cultural novelty), and time (in the form of culture shock). The indirect effects of these three mediators and the direct effect of ethnocentrism on these mediators are simultaneously examined. Using the PLS-SEM statistical technique on a sample of 120 foreigners working in the Czech Republic, a robust relationship was confirmed between cultural intelligence and cross-cultural adjustment, best explained by the mediator of life satisfaction. A significant specific indirect effect was also found of the mediator of culture shock on the relationship between cultural intelligence and cross-cultural adjustment. However, our data did not support the variable of cultural novelty as a mediator of the relationship.

Relationship between cultural intelligence and learning organization
In: International journal of cross cultural management, Band 22, Heft 1, S. 189-205
ISSN: 1741-2838
Human capital is one of the critical resources for organizations around the world, and it requires significant learning and development (L&D) investments as a structured approach to become a learning organization. The study evaluates the relationship between cultural intelligence and learning organization by analyzing 364 responses received from employees-working across Indian organizations from varied sectors. The dimensions used for measuring learning organization in the study are – information sharing and accessibility, systematic problem solving, acceptance of error and experimenting with new approaches. Results demonstrate a significant positive relationship between learning organization and its four dimensions and cultural intelligence. The findings have implications for organizations to inculcate learning organization disciplines for improved cultural intelligence while also bridging the gap in the existing literature.
Tourism and Cultural Interaction: A Paradoxical Relationship
In: Journal of Educational and Social Research: JESR, Band 11, Heft 3, S. 39
ISSN: 2240-0524
The objective of this paper is to discuss and contribute to the understanding of the relationship between tourism and cultural interaction, as well as the relationship between people of different cultural backgrounds in tourist context. The interaction between cultures framed by an ideal intercultural communication is frequently the center of a tourism discourse, promoting a possible heavenly world brought by tourism. This paper argues that its relationship is, by definition, problematic because of the complexities of the tourism and the cultural phenomena, clearly shown on the contemporary social and scientific debate about monoculturalism, multiculturalism and interculturalism, and the problems and paradoxes it entails. The discourses of international organizations on the specific subjects of cultural issues and relationships, having in mind their institutional roles, also reflect, in their choices and silences, the complexity of the subject. The main conclusion of this piece of research is that such a relationship is inescapably complex, and sometimes paradoxical and contradictory or irreducible due to the complex natures of tourism and intercultural communication themselves.

Peculiarities of the Relationship Between Cultural Policy, Communication and Cultural Worldview
In: Žurnal Sibirskogo Federal'nogo Universiteta: Journal of Siberian Federal University. Gumanitarnye nauki = Humanities & social sciences, S. 767-773
ISSN: 2313-6014
The article is focused on the issue of determining the key ideological prerequisites and means of forming social consciousness, which cultural policy is based on. The article argues that one of the means that forms the worldview of a society and individuals' activity in terms of understanding cultural policy is cultural worldview, which acts as a «mediator» and a channel of communication between the state, the scientific community and public consciousness. It has been analyzed that the most important task on the way to achieving the main goals of the state cultural policy is not only broad information about the essence of cultural policy but understanding this essence. As a result, a tendency: «cultural policy – intercultural communication, as an object of cultural policy – cultural worldview, as a means of intercultural communication» has been revealed at the present stage of socio-cultural development. Moreover, it has been substantiated that the patterns of intercultural communication reflect the relations between cultural systems, indicate their internal connections and relationships (the structure of cultural reality) and, thereby, form cultural worldview
