Mechthild of Hackeborn represents medieval mysticism. Her Revelations were written down in the 1290s in Helfta, Germany. The oldest surviving versions are in Latin, but in the Middle Ages, the Revelations were translated at least into Dutch, English, Swedish, and German. The text was translated into Swedish in 1469 by Jöns Budde, a Bridgettine brother from Naantali. Budde made few omissions but many additions in the text, mainly explanations to meet the needs of the Bridgettine sisters. Budde's translation is faithful to the original text, and he made few mistakes. My Finnish translation of the text follows Budde's version where possible. However, Budde translated an abridged version that omitted some chapters, and the only surviving copy of Budde's translation is incomplete. I have therefore translated the missing sections from Latin and incorporated them in the text. My translation also includes editorial comments on the language, the contents, and the historical and theological contexts of the Revelations.

La invasión napoleónica y la llamada desamortización eclesiástica, son dos de los acontecimientos políticos acaecidos en España en el siglo XIX que peores consecuencias tuvieron para nuestro patrimonio artístico. Numerosos inmuebles y bienes muebles de toda la geografía española sufrieron un deterioro o pérdida irreparable. En otros casos, pinturas, esculturas, piezas de orfebrería, instrumentos científicos, colecciones naturales y bibliotecas, fueron reunidas en capitales de provincia con destino a futuros museos provinciales. En este trabajo se presentan dos documentos relativos a la desamortización en Loja. En el primero de ellos se pone de manifiesto cómo se procedió para incautar las pinturas y bibliotecas de los tres conventos masculinos que hubo en la ciudad, y el segundo es un inventario de los bienes muebles que salieron de dichos conventos con destino a Granada. ; The Napoleonic invasion of Spain and the seizure of church properties are the two political events of 19th century Spain which have had the most deleterious effect on our artistic heritage. Ali over Spain, a great number of buildings and movable items were lost or suffered irreparable damage. In other cases, paintings, sculptures, silverwork, scientific instruments, public and prívate collections and libraries were brought together in the provincial capitals to be reorganized in collections in future provincial museums. This paper discusses two pieces of documentary evidence of Property confiscation in Loja. The first shows the procedures used to seize the paintings and library collections in the three monasteries of the town, while the second is an inventory of items which were moved from the monasteries to Granada.

The government of José I tried to promote access to books, in the wake of the French revolutionaries. This policy would materialize in a new Royal Library and the creation of public libraries, with books coming from convents and monasteries now suppressed.
