"Online fashion renting" is how the sharing economy concept has emerged in the fashion sector. Online fashion rentals are now acceptable and accessible thanks to the growth of collaborative consumption in the clothes sector and technological advancements, accelerating consumer demand for more reasonably priced and environmentally friendly fashion items. The current study determines how the expectancy-value plays a vital role in developing behavioral beliefs that may cause favorable attitudes and intentions toward online renting. The research applies a quantitative approach; a conceptual framework is proposed based on the theory of planned behavior and expectancy value theory. Data was gathered from 320 fashion users renting items from social media and rental outlets via survey. The results revealed that growing awareness of online fashion rental in Pakistan has not only made it convenient for the customer, but these rental services also support giving a second life to fashion items that have been disposed of after the low frequency of use due to short life cycles and frequent updates of fashion. This study provides guidelines for renters and rentals as the success of fashion renting depends on consumer awareness, and its acceptance in the Pakistani market for customer communication can play a vital role in creating trust regarding online fashion renting.

Abstract
Relying on the 2013 and 2016 rounds of individual questionnaires from the Swiss Household Panel (SHP), we use multiple correspondence analysis to map Swiss media consumption practices while making use of the longitudinal character of panel data in an innovative way. Our results show that individual practices can be distinguished along two main dimensions: on the one hand, the reliance on new media, which is explained mainly by the age cohort, and on the other hand, the consumption of news, which is explained mainly by changes in political interest as well as by gender.

In recent decades, residential energy consumption has grown in Mexico despite high poverty levels. While inequalities in energy have been documented, less attention has been paid to practices of consumption. Particularly, we sustain that it is necessary to account for changes in associated behaviors, which shape energy use, such as the acquisition of electrical appliances. This paper analyzes if there is evidence of diffusion of energy practices from higher to lower-income households. We hypothesize that more intensive energy practices expand across groups beyond their demographic and socioeconomic characteristics. Employing a harmonized dataset of thirteen Income and Expenditure Household Surveys, we assess changes in electrical appliances and electricity consumption. Using latent class analysis, we construct energy profiles that identify underlying consumption behaviors from sociodemographic and residential characteristics. We find support for the argument that intensive energy practices expanded from high to lower socioeconomic groups. While this trend reflects improvements in living conditions in Mexico, it also highlights the environmental challenges that increasing consumption poses for sustainable development goals.

Although consumers' temporal experiences in the performance of single practices of extraordinary nature have been well understood, there is not yet a clear understanding of how temporal experiences unfold from the recurrent performance of complexes of practices. Conversely, we delve into how the recurrent performance of quotidian complexes of practices affects consumers' temporal experiences. To do so, we adopt a Rhythmanalysis lens to study the recurrent performance of runners and swimmers. We contribute to the literature by proposing that global rhythms are enduring and encompassing temporal experiences unfolding from the recurrent performance of complexes of practices through a process involving the orchestration of complexes of practices, the embodied effects of its routinization, the integration of consumption habits, and social involvement with communities of practitioners.

Drawing on a multi-layered theoretical framework of consumption, this thesis explores food consumption practices using a socio-cultural lens. It attempts to map food practices, illustrate environmental influences, and explore processes of negotiating preferred practices of consumption in a northern Canadian context; specifically Thompson, Manitoba. This focus provides insight into the complexities of food consumption habits and produces a northern narrative of the food experiences of those living in Thompson. The thesis is based on a mixed methods approach, encompassing both survey and interview data collection strategies. The findings show that habitus, gender, and identity-values have a significant influence on food consumption practices and are expressed through food routines and traditions involving purchasing, selection and preparation. My findings also illustrate a mismatched relationship between Thompson's food milieu and its diverse population. The findings of this research can be taken into consideration by political representatives as they evaluate and develop future plans for Thompson's food environment. ; October 2013

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to identify which consumption practices young adults regard as necessary. Recently, necessity consumption has not attracted the interest of consumer researchers, even though it serves as an important concept for studying the fundamentals of consumption.Design/methodology/approachThe data are based on consumption diaries in which young adults reported their consumption practices during one week and then rated the degree to which they experienced each of these practices as a necessity or luxury on a seven‐point scale. The data collection was conducted in January 2011. The sample consisted of 55 Finnish university students and the total number of practices they reported in the diaries was 3,847. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics.FindingsThe results show that young adults experienced almost 60 per cent of their consumption practices as necessary. However, the boundaries between necessary consumption and luxury consumption appeared to be fluid. Accordingly, five groups of consumption practices were identified on the basis of their necessity/luxury ratings, and three of these groups included necessity practices of different levels.Originality/valueThe results show that young adults define necessity consumption differently in different situations. Also, the importance of social activities was evident in all three groups of necessity practices. To conclude, the authors suggest that the developed empirical model should be tested further in different contexts, especially regarding the situational factors, as it provides a fruitful starting point for studying necessity consumption.

This book engages with the topic of ethical consumption and applies a critical-realist approach to explore the process of becoming and being an ethical consumer. By integrating Margaret Archer's theory of identity formation and Christian Coff's work on food ethics, it develops a theoretical account explicating the generative mechanism that gives rise to ethical consumer practices and identities. The second part of the book presents the findings from a qualitative study with self-perceived ethical food consumers to demonstrate the fit between the proposed theoretical mechanism and the actual experiences of ethically committed consumers. Through integrating agency-focused and socio-centric perspectives on consumer behaviour, the book develops a more comprehensive and balanced approach to conceptualising and studying consumption processes and phenomena. --

This paper analyzes conservation behaviour of university students. Data is gathered in 2010 from 248 full-time UiTM Shah Alam students of different fields of study using survey questionnaire. 7he study analyses conservation behaviour of university students in relation to special socio-demographic characteristics. Specifically, analysis includes investigation into the relationship of gender, urban-rural strata of student's background, parents' highest education level and fields of study with conservation behaviour around the campus area and in their lifestyle. Results show significant relationship between conservation behaviour of university students with rural background and parents with school education as their highest education level.
