This research proposes a reflection on the relevance of a "art -action" current, based on an analysis of the acts for the art, characterized as "off limits", through a use of the physical presence, such as origin and support of the visual art, begun in the 1920s by Marcel Duchamp, and declined throughout the twentieth century with artistic groups as Dada, the Happening, the Viennese Actionnism, or the Body Art.We study here, through artists performers selected around the singular practices of Albrecht Becker, Ron Athey and Lukas Zpira, the possible limits of artistic acts, staging in extreme way, through performances considered shocking, aggressive, including piercings, tattoos, daring an art of faintness sometimes, being played of conventions, the taboos and the social-cultural codes in place. Thus we see whether it is necessary, today, to still speak about artistic acts political, militant, after the golden age of the Seventies, through a choice among many new esthetics of the human body, successively "hero, subject, material, object, victim, screen" of this transgressive acting-art. Our will is to understand the ambiguity contained in the representation, and all the shown symbolic system, compared to a first intention which is disintegration both thematic and formal in the plastic arts. The discussion is thus about the authenticity and the survival of these artistic extremists and transgressive practices, treating the concept of identity or even the genetics, the discussion being also about their avant-gardist position in the history of "the art for art" brought by the modernity, position to be reconsidered in a society called post-modern.Do this "body- hacking" bring us then towards a future virtual human being, a single existence in the digital universes? Is the body lost or, paradoxically the ultimate recourse, saved by these painful and radical modifications?

Hermann Nitsch's Theatre of Orgies and Mysteries (Orgien Mysterien Theater) grew out of the painful context of post-Fascist Austria. Although Austria had welcomed annexation with Germany in 1938 and the Austrians had been eager collaborators with the Nazis from the outset, as soon as the war was over, they portrayed themselves as victims, denying responsibility for or active participation in Nazi crimes, preferring to blame everything on their German neighbours. In this loathsome atmosphere, in which the majority of the intellectuals of the time remained silent, Hermann Nitsch set up his Theater, using a highly radical, visual language.Contrary to what one might suppose, however, it was not political art.And in fact, after the initial visual shock, the Theater was, above all, philosophical and anthropological. Nitsch maintained that modern man, stripped of mythology, was no longer in harmony with his essence. Postmodern societies, which he deemed alienating, were responsible for a semantic breach between the material and the spiritual. The experience of the Theater, through ritual and its emphasis on anthropological principles of invariance, was a way for the individual to rid himself of societal determinism in order to gain access to continuous knowledge (Bataille). Thus, the Theatre of Orgies andMysteries is a multi-referential, transhistoric work situated on the cusp of micro- and macro-history. Nitsch has stated that "the creative process and the Theater must contribute towards forming a unity with the whole" so as to "erase the difference between immanence and transcendence". All of the activities proposed by Nitsch consist in rituals, sometimes of life and sometimes of death, but all with the aim of erasing the immanence/transcendence dichotomy. Hermann Nitsch's Theater adapts inborn symbolic language (in the Freudian sense) and old traditions in an attempt to demonstrate to the modernindividual that the universe that surrounds them, despite its diversity, is a coherent whole, a surviving continuity in ...

All of the activities proposed by Nitsch consist in rituals, sometimes of life and sometimes of death, but all with the aim of erasing the immanence/transcendence dichotomy. Hermann Nitsch's Theater adapts inborn symbolic language (in the Freudian sense) and old traditions in an attempt to demonstrate to the modernindividual that the universe that surrounds them, despite its diversity, is a coherent whole, a surviving continuity in which they participate.a ; Le Théâtre des Orgies et des Mystères d'Hermann Nitsch s'inscrit dans le contexte douloureux de l'Autriche post fasciste.

Willem Boshoff's work articulates around a pivotal date, April 1994, the first democratic elections in South Africa. He may choose to work gigantic rocks of granite or establish vast installations of accumulated material. The artist claims that his work is based on language, often taking the form of Dictionaries. While reviewing the main questions by artists of the twentieth century, texts or artworks from Europe are systematically tested against their South African counterpart. Boshoff's attitude is determined by a melancholic questioning of his role as a creator linked to a political situation and cultural milieu. He discovers more dynamic ways of presenting gestures when his artistic activity is related to the way of life of a druid. As a conscientious objector he learnt that it is often better to hide the true signification of a sign or to disqualify a text. Boshoff's "Notes towards a blind Aesthetic", where the essential is not visible, invent a dictionary to be read with the hands. Questioning perception theories provides the artist with a way of capsizing the occidental world towards patterns of thinking that he can claim for himself. The multiplicity of languages in South Africa opens up to questions of memory, ecology, disappearance, mental space as a site of creation, experiments with the limits of the fictional. The druid is one exceptional character amongst others in the contemporary art world. Boshoff obliges his visitor to participate in an act of translation which is given provisional but tangible form in such works as "Writing in the Sand" and the "Gardens of Words". The druid becomes the guardian of words and plants in danger of being forgotten also safeguarding them against being petrified or fossilized into a set theory or dogma. Kindred spirits working on all continents are: Sarkis, Mofokeng, Baumgarten, Mudzunga, Ulrichs, Kosuth, Wafer, Bochner, Gette, Filliou, Darboven, Alÿs, Acconci, Langa, Marshall McLuhan and Ivan Vladislavić.

In the space of a few decades, climate change has established itself as a central object of research for the scientific community and as a high profile social and political question. Closely associated with the work of the IPCC, two dominant modes of action have supplied the institutional response : these are, respectively, mitigation and adaptation. The latter has established itself as a potential path for policy by appealing to the imperative of human survival and adopting the form of a vast normative program. In the first part, I question the scientific and political construction and dissemination of these policies for adapting to climate change as an emerging framework for structuring cross-and multi-global public action. In particular, I analyze the institutionalization process of convergent adaptation policies to climate change in France and Quebec. In the second part, I consider the issues involved in the spread of climate change adaptation via territorial risk management policies and water resource governance. By mobilizing a theoretical framework borrowed from the sociology of tests, actionnism and sociology of social problems, the thesis determines that can produce increasing the visibility of climate change in the territorial management water. This will return three contrasting situations. First, a case of flood management (Richelieu, Quebec) that have been criticized by experts in hydrology and climate change. A situation where expertise integrates into current issues of water management (revision of the management plan for low flow of the Garonne), however ownership of the strategic uncertainties of climate change by water stakeholders forced the transformative potential and the last one situation where the clear expertise of current issues (prospective Garonne 2050) tends to produce an insufficient cognitive tension to engage stakeholders on new practices. Finally, these new requirements imposed by adaptation to climate change conflict with the interests and shorter time frames that still prevail ...

The research relates to the relation between the political actors and subversive art and their respective position on dominant themes such as anti-Semitism, the denial of the Nazi past, the status of women, ecology. From existing theories on relations between engaged art and politics, it is a question of studying the works of art of four artists representative on both policy statements and newer technologies through history from 1945 up to now, in the Second Republic of Austria : the sculptor Alfred Hrdlicka, the painter and architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser, the Viennese actionist Günter Brus, the feminist Valie Export. Each one, in his own way, shakes up the established order through his aggressive art and writings. The aim is to specify the type and level of protest of these artists and to assess to what extent they have participated in the democratic debate and modernisation within Austrian society as well as in the identity building of Austria after 1945.
