; The attitudes of Hungarian society towards the situation, created over the Balkans and prospects of further relationship between Hungary and Russia in 1912 are considered as the main themes in the article. The author emphasizes that Russia and Hungary were interested in bilateral relations in the first half of 1912. Both the start of the first Balkan War and success of the Balkan Union's armies came truly unexpected for Budapest. The First World War stimulated the rise of Russophobe and militaristic sentiments. However, by 1913 it became obvious that the supporters of maintaining peaceful relations in the Balkans had been gaining power in Hungary. For that precise reason General Council of Russia in Budapest found it complicated to determine the position of Austria-Hungary in Balkan conflict in 1913.
