Στο άρθρο αυτό εξετάζεται η φεμινιστική προβληματική της διαθεματικότητας και επισημαίνονται ορισμένα ζητήματα που εγείρονται σε σχέση με τη γενεαλογία, τη χρήση και τη διάδοση του όρου στις σπουδές φύλου και σε συναφή γνωστικά πεδία. Μέσα από μια σύντομη επισκόπηση της σχετικής προβληματικής, εξετάζονται διαφορετικές εννοιολογήσεις της διαθεματικότητας, καθώς και κριτικές που τις συνοδεύουν. Στόχος του άρθρου είναι η ανάδειξη της πλαστικότητας της ορολογίας και της δυναμικής της ανάλογης μεθοδολογίας. Ειδικότερα, εξετάζεται η μαύρη φεμινιστική θεωρία, η φεμινιστική έρευνα της κοινωνικής διαστρωμάτωσης, όπως και η μετααποικιακή κριτική στην πολυπολιτισμικότητα, τρεις περιοχές που συγκροτούν διαφορετικά, συνομιλούντα, ωστόσο, επιστημικά και πολιτικά πεδία διαλόγου.

Σε αυτό το κείμενο ο όρος «ετερότητα» εξετάζεται κάτω από τέσσερις διαφορετικές οπτικές γωνίες. Η πρώτη την τοποθετεί σε μια γενεαλογία επιστημονικών και πολιτικών εννοιολογικών εργαλείων τα οποία περιγράφουν και αποτιμούν τις κοινωνίες των σύγχρονων πόλεων και επισημαίνει ότι η χρησιμοποίηση της έννοιας «ετερότητα» σηματοδοτεί ένα ακόμη βήμα απομάκρυνσης από εξισωτικούς λόγους και πολιτικές. Η δεύτερη διερευνά τη σχέση μεταξύ ετερότητας και ανισότητας, εμπνευσμένη από τις επεξεργασίες του François Dubet (2010) όσον αφορά τη σχέση μεταξύ άνισων ταξικών θέσεων και άνισων ευκαιριών. Στο πλαίσιο της τρίτης οπτικής συζητείται η σχέση μεταξύ ετερότητας και χωρικής κινητικότητας, με επικέντρωση στην εμποδιζόμενη κινητικότητα της εργασίας, την οποία νομιμοποιεί κυρίως η ουσιοκρατική αντίληψη της ατομικής ετερότητας. Η τέταρτη και τελευταία οπτική γωνία αφορά σε ένα σχόλιο για τη σχέση ετερότητας και δημοκρατίας, το οποίο επικεντρώνεται στο ότι η αυξημένη χρήση του όρου «ετερότητα» στον πολιτικό λόγο συμβαδίζει όλο και περισσότερο με τον περιορισμό της δημοκρατίας όσον αφορά τις ουσιαστικές επιλογές, αλλά και τον περιορισμό εκείνων των πολιτικών δικαιωμάτων που κυρίως ενσαρκώνουν αυτή την ετερότητα. The first is to place it in a genealogy of scientific and political concepts which describe and assess urban societies, stressing that this concept denotes a further step away from egalitarian discourses and policies. The second is an examination of the relationship between diversity and inequality, inspired by François Dubet's (2010) elaboration on the relation between unequal class positions and unequal opportunities. The third discusses the relation between diversity and spatial mobility and, particularly, the constrained mobility of labour legitimated based on individuals' essentialised otherness. The fourth and last angle, is a comment on the relationship between diversity and democracy, pinpointing that the rise of diversity in political discourse has been increasingly concomitant with the limitation of democracy in terms of effective political alternatives as well as in terms of the limited political rights for many of those who constitute this diversity. Overall, the paper stresses the ambivalent relation of policies and discourses promoting diversity with the egalitarian project when the rights of diverse groups are founded on fixed identities and essentialized differences.

The reclassification of the Emile Zola island in Saint-Etienne in the 1980s is part of the genealogy of a deconstruction practice. Together with some other similar operations, it represents a shift from opportunistic demolition as a continuation of urban renewal policies to strategic deconstruction to respond today to the new and specific situation of urban decay. More broadly, this deconstruction operation without reconstruction is the result of a symptomatic period of debate and guidance on city and habitat policy, with a desire to adapt the city to decline without saying it. ; La requalification de l'îlot Emile Zola à Saint-Etienne dans les années 1980 s'inscrit dans la généalogie d'une pratique de déconstruction. Avec quelques autres opérations du même type, elle représente le passage d'une démolition opportuniste s'inscrivant dans la continuité des politiques de rénovation urbaine, à une déconstruction stratégique pour répondre aujourd'hui à la situation nouvelle et particulière de la décroissance urbaine. Plus largement, cette opération de déconstruction sans reconstruction est le fruit d'une période symptomatique de débats et orientations en matière de politique de la ville et de l'habitat, avec une volonté d'adapter la ville à la décroissance sans le dire.

Resumen: El artículo aborda el turismo en territorios indígenas desde una perspectiva que pone de relevancia las relaciones políticas y de poder, tomando como referencia experiencias en Chile. Se abordan aspectos tales como la genealogía de las políticas públicas asociadas al turismo y al turismo indígena, para luego abordar diferentes formas de expresión del turismo como violencia estructural y reivindicación política. Uno de los actores claves son los emprendedores turísticos indígenas quienes son los que lideran los procesos turísticos en sus territorios, en contraposición de los "usuarios" de los programas sociales. Asimismo, los mediadores institucionalizados son relevantes en la operación de la política pública, tanto como funcionarios o como "expertos" externos, quienes son claves tanto en el diseño como en la implementación del turismo indígena. Se presentan ejemplos de violencia estructural y reivindicación política a partir de un trabajo etnográfico en diversos territorios de Chile, principalmente la Región de la Araucanía, Bío Bío y la comuna de San Pedro de Atacama. Se concluye que estos tres aspectos, políticas públicas que promueven el turismo indígena, la violencia estructural y reivindicación territorial se van construyendo mutuamente en una tensión y apertura que genera diversas acciones desde los territorios indígenas específicos.

For societies with writing systems, hereditary leadership is documented as one of the hallmarks of early political complexity and governance. In contrast, it is unknown whether hereditary succession played a role in the early formation of prehistoric complex societies that lacked writing. Here we use an archaeogenomic approach to identify an elite matriline that persisted between 800 and 1130 CE in Chaco Canyon, the centre of an expansive prehistoric complex society in the Southwestern United States. We show that nine individuals buried in an elite crypt at Pueblo Bonito, the largest structure in the canyon, have identical mitochondrial genomes. Analyses of nuclear genome data from six samples with the highest DNA preservation demonstrate mother–daughter and grandmother–grandson relationships, evidence for a multigenerational matrilineal descent group. Together, these results demonstrate the persistence of an elite matriline in Chaco for ∼330 years. In ancient cultures without a writing system, it is difficult to infer the basis of status and rank. Here the authors analyse ancient DNA from nine presumed elite individuals buried successively over a 300-year period at Chaco Canyon, and show evidence of matrilineal relationships.

International audience From a political ecology perspective, Chilean geographers have studied the various aspects of socio-environmental conflicts over water during the neoliberal period starting in 1973. This study aims to contribute to the understanding of the relationship between the different meanings and materialities of water in the Tarapacá region of northern Chile prior to the introduction of neoliberal reforms using a geohistorical perspective. By reviewing historical archives and undertaking terrain analyses, we examine the respective roles of the state, capitalism, and science/technology in the commodification/modernization of water in Tarapacá from the 19th to the early 20th centuries. We propose that the 19th-century insertion of Tarapacá's nitrate mining into the world capitalist circuit of minerals attracted explorers and scientists, who proffered modern discourses on nature and water while denying any local knowledge about water. These discourses then became prominent in the political sphere and were hegemonized through laws and norms. In parallel, the modernization of the nitrate mining resulted in the introduction of cutting-edge technologies for water infrastructure, a process that introduced changes in everyday practices regarding water, leading to the creation of the modern waterscapes in Tarapacá.

during the Cold War, the prism behind the appointment of the Soviet enemy was based on stigmatisation of totalitarian and militarist logic. This outright condemnation of the political system was particularly evident in international crises. For example, the destruction of a South Korean Boeing in 1983 was part of this simplified approach, which guides the interpretation of the event according to the prevailing ideology. The political rhetoric of the governors is not the only material relevant in this respect. The print media also offers a significant form of access to reductionist images of the enemy. It makes it possible to grasp changes in strategic representations, particularly in the post-Cold War. Thus, one of the salient features since the Gulf War in 1991 has been a trend replacement of the 'green' enemy in the south for the Soviet Eastern Red enemy, which tends to strengthen the legitimacy of certain critically questionable paradigms, such as the shock of civilisations. The events of 11 September seem to have revealed this transfer mechanism again. They create a communication environment favourable to the reactivation of Western prejudices about Arab-Muslim interference. After a short genealogy of Western stereotypes against Islam and Arabity, a comparative study of the French written press was carried out in September 2001 until the US attack in Afghanistan (from 12 September to 8 October). Loin to be reduced to the question of relationship between text and image and logocentrism, the novel study of the relationship between Visual Studies and iconology shows that any logos of and on images have a theoretical but also practical, ideological or even idolâtric dimension. Based on a genealogy of iconology, from Philostrate to Cesare Ripa, from Luther to Bacon, from Jesuit to W. J. T. Mitchell, an archaeology of Visual Studies shows that, successively knowing by image and knowing the image, iconology goes beyond the artistic sphere from the outset to place the question of the meaning and power of images in the rhetorical, religious and political field. ; Loin de se réduire à la question des rapports entre texte et image et du logocentrisme, l'étude inédite des rapports entre Visual Studies et iconologie montre que tout logos des et sur les images engage une dimension théorique mais aussi pratique, idéologique voire idolâtrique. The Bouthillier family, who gave to the State the Superintendent of Finance Claude Bouthillier and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Léon Bouthillier, his son, better known as Count de Chavigny, and who gave to the Church Armand-Jean Bouthillier, abbot of Rancé and reformer of La Trappe, originates from the city of Angoulême. This is shown by the documents found in the notarial archives of this city, which contradict the official and ancient version of a Breton ancestry of old nobility.This article presents the means that made it possible to demonstrate the fallacy of the official genealogy of the Bouthilliers, forged by Denis Bouthillier, a lawyer in the Parliament of Paris, before restoring the reality of their origin. ; National audience La famille Bouthillier, qui a donné à l'État le surintendant des finances Claude Bouthillier et le secrétaire d'État des Affaires étrangères, Léon Bouthillier, son fils, mieux connu sous le titre de comte de Chavigny, et qui a donné à l'Église Armand-Jean Bouthillier, abbé de Rancé et réformateur de la Trappe, tire son origine de la ville d'Angoulême. C'est ce que montrent les documents que l'on trouve dans les archives notariales de cette ville, qui viennent contredire la version officielle et ancienne d'une ascendance bretonne de vieille noblesse.Cet article expose les moyens qui ont permis de démontrer le caractère fallacieux de la généalogie officielle des Bouthillier, forgée par Denis Bouthillier, avocat au Parlement de Paris, avant de rétablir la réalité de leur origine.

Summary This article examines the ethnic features Garífunas that contribute to the process of cultural social creation, which can be analysed on the basis of certain levels of registration of social imaginaries. In an attempt to collaborate in drawing up a garden identity list, our central objective in this work is to address some fundamental dimensions of ethnic communities, in order to highlight them, such as: a name, a myth of common descent, a common history, a shared culture, an association with a territory and a political movement to defend one's own identity. In order to achieve this, the guidelines of Anthony Smith (1987) and its colleagues are essentially followed, based, inter alia, on deep founding myths as a way of studying social imaginaries and some of the group's relative productions. ; Resumen Este artículo examina los rasgos étnicos garífunas que contribuyen en el proceso de creación social cultural, los cuales pueden ser analizados a partir de ciertos niveles de registro de los imaginarios sociales. En un intento de colaborar en la elaboración de una lista identitaria garífuna, nuestro objetivo central en este trabajo es abordar algunas dimensiones fundamentales de las colectividades étnicas, con el fin de evidenciarlas, tales como: un nombre, un mito común de ascendencia, una historia común, una cultura compartida, la asociación a un territorio y un movimiento político de defensa de la propia identidad. Para cumplir con este propósito se siguen esencialmente los lineamientos de Anthony Smith (1987) y sus colaboradores, con base, entre otros, en los mitos fundacionales profundos como vía de estudio de los imaginarios sociales y algunas de las producciones relativas del grupo.

RESUMEN This work reconstructs the process of occupation, eviction and dispossession of two experiences of urban space production in a city of the Global South: Rosario (Argentina). We focus on the urban strip of the central coast, a scenario for the trajectories of two collective subjects, okupas and artisanal fishermen. Both communities presented alternative ways of producing and imagining urban space and raised the need to create differences with the corporate trends that the city was marketing, its culture and lifestyles. Through their daily practices and resistance, okupas and fishermen showed spatial and future cultural-productive alternatives for genealogy and mapping of the urban environment. Through a combination of ethnographic and historical interpretation, we tried to show the practices of resistance to government formulas of urban renewal. ; RESUMEN Este trabajo reconstruye el proceso de ocupación, desalojo y desposesión de dos experiencias de producción de espacio urbano en una ciudad del Sur Global: Rosario (Argentina). Nos centramos en la franja urbana de la costa central, escenario de las trayectorias de dos sujetos colectivos, los okupas y los pescadores artesanales. Ambas comunidades presentaron formas alternativas de producir e imaginar el espacio urbano y plantearon la necesidad de generar diferencias con las tendencias corporativas que mercantilizaban la ciudad, su cultura y sus modos de vida. A través de sus prácticas y resistencias cotidianas, okupas y pescadores mostraron alternativas espaciales y futuros culturales-productivos para una genealogía y cartografía del presente urbano. Mediante una combinación de la hermenéutica etnográfica e historiográfica, intentamos mostrar las prácticas de resistencia a las fórmulas gubernamentales de la renovación urbana.

International audience This article intends to analyze the embodiment of the democratic split initiated by the Revolution of 1868 in the creation, re-appropriation or re-semantization of symbols and allegories. It studies the way in which symbolism seeks both to reflect political change and to take its place within a liberal genealogy, blending national tradition and foreign symbolic influences, prominent among which French ones. ; Este artículo propone analizar cómo se encarna la ruptura democrática iniciada con la revolución de septiembre de 1868 en la creación, reapropiación o resemantización de símbolos y alegorías. Se estudia cómo la simbología busca, a la vez, reflejar el cambio político e inscribirse en una genealogía liberal, entrelazando tradición nacional e influencias simbólicas foráneas, especialmente francesas.

This paper investigates the statistical estimation of a discrete mixing measure µ0 involved in a kernel mixture model. Using some recent advances in `1-regularization over the space of measures, we introduce a "data fitting and regularization" convex program for estimating µ0 in a grid-less manner from a sample of mixture law, this method is referred to as Beurling-LASSO. Our contribution is two-fold: we derive a lower bound on the bandwidth of our data fitting term depending only on the support of µ0 and its so-called "minimum separation" to ensure quantitative support localization error bounds; and under a so-called "nondegenerate source condition" we derive a non-asymptotic support stability property. This latter shows that for a sufficiently large sample size n, our estimator has exactly as many weighted Dirac masses as the target µ, converging in amplitude and localization towards the true ones. Finally, we also introduce some tractable algorithms for solving this convex program based on "Sliding Frank-Wolfe" or "Conic Particle Gradient Descent". Statistical performances of this estimator are investigated designing a so-called "dual certificate", which is appropriate to our setting.
