We drew on the theory of conservation of resources to examine the social effects of a leader's work engagement on followers' psychological capital, work engagement, and job satisfaction. With a sample of 530 employees nested within 54 teams, we tested our hypotheses using multilevel path analyses in Mplus. As hypothesized, we found that the leader's work engagement was positively related to followers' psychological capital, work engagement, and job satisfaction. Further, followers' psychological capital mediated the relationship between the leader's work engagement and followers' work engagement and job satisfaction. In particular, the leader's work engagement was positively related to followers' psychological capital, which, in turn, was positively associated with both their work engagement and job satisfaction. Implications of our findings are that if leaders openly express their identification with their work and put great effort into their job, followers are more likely to achieve high levels of team effectiveness.
A letter report issued by the General Accounting Office with an abstract that begins "This report summarizes GAO's findings on the economic and social effects of "convenience gambling." The National Gambling Impact Study Commission defines convenience gambling as the placement of slot machines or video poker terminals in restaurants, bars, drugstores, and other businesses to attract local residents rather than tourists. Although data from the communities GAO studied indicated that legalized convenience gambling increased tax revenues and created jobs, local government officials said that its presence discouraged some businesses from coming into the community. Although government officials in these communities suggested that convenience gambling contributed to bankruptcy filings, GAO was unable to find evidence of such a link. Many factors prevented GAO from clearly identifying the social effects of gambling in the communities studied. GAO was able to gather anecdotal evidence that suggested a link between certain social problems and gambling, but hard evidence to support those findings was lacking."

This paper examines the performance of the Finnish economy during the so‐called incomes policy period, 1969‐80. For this purpose Finland is compared with the other OECD countries both before and during the incomes policy period. The results suggest that in terms of economic growth, inflation and unemployment, Finnish economy has improved its performance, particularly before the economic recession of the mid‐seventies. Cross‐national comparisons point out that the recession has been met in various ways: some countries have restrained inflation, some unemployment. Secondly, the paper examines the effects of incomes policy agreements on the growth of social expenditure, the result being that incomes policy cannot be regarded as responsible for the growth of social expenditure in Finland. Thirdly, effects on income distribution are analyzed. Here incomes policy has played a role: income inequalities diminished during the first five years of incomes policy. Since then, they have not changed. The paper ends by discussing the impact and nature of incomes policy.
Immigration law is a hotly contested topic these days. Not only does it have important implications in numerous legal fields, including labor law and tort law, but it also has social, political, and economic effects that ripple throughout our society. Immigrants, especially those who remain undocumented, have the potential to affect the lives of people in almost every walk of life, from politicians to entrepreneurs, and even to teenagers seeking their first jobs. After analyzing the legal impact of current legislation on the field of labor law, it becomes apparent that the employment of undocumented aliens does not have the negative economic and political effects that critics would like to assert.

Abstract
Aceh, Indonesia is one of the few societies that have successfully navigated a post-disaster transition following simultaneous natural and man-made disasters. Since the August 2005 peace agreement, Aceh's road to recovery from the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and 30 years of separatist war has been largely successful. However, key challenges remain to consolidate the success of Aceh's post-disaster transition and ensure sustainable peace in the province. Reconciliation is among the challenges that has to date been largely neglected. While significant political and economic change has occurred, prolonged armed conflict left behind a legacy of negative intergroup relations in Aceh that has yet to be addressed.
As political realities have delayed implementation of mechanisms designed to promote reconciliation such as the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Human Rights Court, this paper argues that peacebuilding practitioners should adopt complementary approaches to reconciliation such as intergroup contact programs that are being proven effective in various international contexts. It will explore an important, and largely neglected aspect of Aceh's post-disaster transition by providing an overview of the literature on reconciliation and intergroup contact, and highlighting key efforts to pilot these techniques and advance reconciliation in Aceh.

In: Parra , C & Pacheco Cueva , V 2011 , Analysis of Economic and Social Effects of Pueblo Viejo Mining Project. Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining , Brisbane .
The research was conducted during the last quarter of 2010 and the first semester of 2011. It included planning the field work, conducting interviews, collecting data, reviewing secondary sources of information, carrying out analysis, internal and external session discussions and writing up the final report. This document contributes to the ongoing understanding of the potential impacts and effects of the Pueblo Viejo mining project on the human development and general progress of the people of Dominican Republic. We explain the most significant and potential effects of the project and provide some key recommendations to effectively transform its effects into social capital and an improved level of human development. Current market conditions and new mining projects are providing extraordinary, positive and long term possibilities for improving the social and economic wellbeing in host communities through employment, productive linkages, taxes, and better organised communities. However, in order to transform these possibilities into realities, society as a whole, including the state, local governments, institutions, communities, individuals and mining companies must negotiate a common view that goes beyond the narrow interests of its constituent parts. This is the context of this research and we encourage our readers to go through this document with a critical, but optimistic view, thinking about the local communities' present and future.

Divorce is the lawful form of dissolution of a marriage, which is permitted by Allah Almighty only in unavoidable unconducive conditions, hence it is still the most disliked act near to Him among lawful acts. The divorce has severe socio-psychological outcomes for stakeholders, particularly children from divorced spouses are at worst hit. Today's children are the tomorrow's vital human resource. The main objective of this research has been to analyze social and psychological impacts of divorce on the divorced spouses' children. Hypothesis of study was that parental divorce affects the children adversely in psycho-social terms. The universe selected for this study was province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A number of 30 respondents were purposively selected, while using non-probability sampling technique. The respondents were juveniles having their ages ranging between 5 years to less than 18 years; these juveniles' parents were divorced. The Interview was used as method of data collection. The results of study shows that parental divorce affect their juveniles in terms of parental loss associated with emotional and economic loss, stress in life, complex dynamics in relationships, social and psychological problems etc. It is recommended that every possible effort should be made to maintain the marital tie intact, and if in some case, Allah forbid, the divorce occurred, even then children should be supported by both parent, by society and by the state.
