Japan's Telecommunications Policy: Issues in Regulatory Reform for Interconnection

Since the late 1990s, Japan has undertaken a series of reforms on interconnection to enhance competition in the telecommunications market. This relatively swift regulatory reform was driven primarily by global market pressure transmitted by large business users, rather than political pressure deriving from international negotiations or foreign government actions.
