The relation between psychoanalysis and feminism has been the focus of attention in the French academy, and among them, the issue of gender identity (sexualité) has been the focus of feminist criticism of the classical theory of psychoanalysis. In response to the above debate, I believe that there is a dimension that cannot be ignored, that is the relationship between otherness and gender identity. To show this dimension, I will first examine the concept of "homosocial desire" proposed by Sedgwick and Chizuko Ueno. Second, I will sort out the passages in Freud and Lacan that may be relevant to this issue. My argument is, first, that developments within psychoanalysis from Freud to Lacan do provide new foundations for theories of gender identity; second, that the issue of sociality behind gender identity also poses a challenge for psychoanalytic theory.

Abstract
Studying driving records (DR) and assessing their risk relativity is crucial for auto insurance rate regulation. Typically, the evaluation of DR involves estimating risk using empirical loss cost or modeling approaches such as Generalized Linear Models (GLM). This article presents a novel methodology employing Generalized Additive Models (GAM) to estimate the risk relativity of DR. By treating the integer level of DR as a continuous variable, the proposed method offers enhanced flexibility and practicality in evaluating the associated risk. Extending the linear model to GAM is a critical advancement that harnesses advanced statistical methods in actuarial practice, providing a more statistically robust application of the proposed approach. Moreover, the integration of functional patterns with Class or Territory enables the investigation of statistical evidence supporting the existence of associations between risk factors. This approach helps address the issue of potential double penalties in insurance pricing and calls for a statistical solution to overcome this challenge. Our study demonstrates that utilizing the GAM approach yields a more balanced estimation of DR relativity, thereby reducing discrimination among different DR levels. This finding highlights the potential of this statistical method to improve fairness and accuracy in auto insurance rate making and regulation.

PurposeWhile providing users with important innovation resources, an enterprise's open innovation community also encounters numerous challenges. The purpose of this study is to develop and implement a set of evaluation systems that can identify the ecological characteristics of open innovation communities. The ultimate goal is to provide guidance for the construction and establishment of these communities.Design/methodology/approachFirstly, from the perspective of information ecology, according to the connotation requirements of the four information elements of "people, information, technology and environment" in the information ecosystem, this paper determines the evaluation indicators of enterprise's open innovation community from the aspects of integrity and dynamics. Then, based on the improved analytic hierarchy process, the weight of each index is calculated, and a complete evaluation system of open innovation community is established. Finally, the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method is used to conduct empirical research on Haier Open Partnership (HOPE) platform, analyze its ecological situation and existing problems and put forward the corresponding construction recommendations.FindingsThe application of HOPE platform shows that the evaluation index system built in this study has good applicability, and the whole research process and research method have certain reference value for future studies. At the same time, the study found that the HOPE platform has good ecological characteristics, but there are also some problems. This study can directly promote the construction of the platform.Originality/valueThis paper, for the first time, combines the information ecology theory with the open innovation community. The results demonstrate that the open innovation community is an information ecosystem, which can be evaluated ecologically. Furthermore, to ensure the calculation's scientific accuracy, the index weight is determined by constructing a judgment matrix based on expert questionnaires.

AbstractThe Gaia hypothesis is often used as the basis for demonstrating environmental integrity in current arguments within the field of ecological philosophy. However, when citing the Gaia hypothesis, people are often vague when defining its connotations and extensions. By analysing the controversies surrounding the Gaia hypothesis, we can achieve an appropriate conception of its ontology, including the blindness of the strong theoretical approach and the rationality of the weak one. Gaia's naturalistic epistemology, holistic methodology and systematic values can thus be discriminated. Gaia has strong significance for allowing human beings to understand the Earth's ecological environment and is an effective ecological holistic theory.

This study reports on an investigate study about using simulation in business English teaching with 66 English-major advanced learners, using two-stage surveys. This study addresses the three research questions focusing on the needs and challenges, effectiveness and learning outcomes and suggestions for improvement of simulation in business English teaching. The study found that participants most favored employment related simulation and workplace scenarios. They preferred both Chinese and global corporate simulation cases, as well as unique industrial and familiar cases. The lack of language skills, knowledge, thinking skills, practice skills, and mentality could be the challenges for simulation. The majority of the participants agreed that simulation activities were effective and had positive impact. Through simulation, participants could acquire writing skills, corporate and business knowledge, and business vocabulary knowledge. Participants were concerned about the simulation process and the roles to play. Lack of adequate language, knowledge, experience, and social skills, inappropriate grouping and timing could be unproductive factors for simulation. On the other hand, more interactions, presentation, expanded language and knowledge, and linking with practice could be facilitating factors for simulation. For improvement, participants suggested adding more case content and context, having longer preparation time and better grouping, as well as clearer simulation instructions. This study provides empirical evidences for refining the simulation approach in business English courses from China's English majors' perspectives. The study has important implications for business English simulation teaching design and implementations in both Chinese and international contexts.

This article explores the specifics of China's diplomacy towards the Asia-Pacific Region (APR) during the leadership of Xi Jinping. The author concludes that major power diplomacy with Chinese characteristics in the new era lies in China's promotion of its own vision of regional and global development, which is China's response to the emerging challenges of security and stable development in the APR and the need to strengthen China's role and status in the region as a driver of peaceful development and mutually beneficial cooperation.
