As part of the research project of the RSCF No. 22-18-00295 "Electronic library of Arabographic manuscripts from archival, library, museum and private collections of Russia", the authors conducted an archeographic expedition in the summer of 2022 to the Kayakent, Akhtynsky and Suleiman-Stalsky districts of the Republic of Dagestan with the aim to identify private and mosque collections of manuscripts and books for their subsequent description and digitization. Two private collections, belonging to K.M. Kamalov and Sh.Yu. Magomedov, were identified in the Kayakent district of Dagestan. They comprise around forty volumes of manuscripts and early printed books, as well as handwritten documents: assembly records, letters, registration of legal transactions, etc. Both collections have a common origin and are fragments of collections belonging to local religious figures: the last pre-revolutionary qadi of the village of Alhajikent, Qadi-Agay and his relatives Abuzar-qadi, local alim of the first half of the 19th century, Abdul Wahab Sheikh and Sheikh Mirza. The part of the collection of Sh.Yu. Magomedov was lost in the 1980s. The content of the collections is mainly represented by works in Arabic in the fields of grammar and stylistics of the Arabic language, Muslim law, dogmatics, occult sciences. Due to the loss of its part, the Sh.Yu. Magomedov's collection covers the period between 1747-1748 to the first third of the 19th century, while in the collection of Kamalov K.M. there are earlier copies of manuscripts, which, according to paleographic characteristics, can be attributed to the middle of the 17th century. Our paper focuses on the few manuscripts in the Turkic languages, identified in the collections.

The present paper is dealing exclusively with medico-magical texts and traditions from a Christian Ethiopian environment. The handbooks and collections of various traditional healers in Ethiopia have played a significant role in the chain of transmission of medical and magical knowledge. This paper will focus on the structure and composition strategy exemplified by four Ethiopian manuscripts (MS Or. 11390 from the British Library, MS Éthiopien 402, 402 and 648 from the Bibliothèque nationale Paris). The analysis shows how the specialist knowledge was transmitted, preserved and reused. Moreover, it sheds some light on the protagonists of this transfer.

About 150 years ago, after Avestan researchers such as Jackson, Browne, and Westergaard had unsuccessfully attempted to discover new manuscripts in Iran, it was assumed that there were few or no Avestan manuscripts remaining in Iran. However, recent research and fieldwork in Iran have resulted in important findings disproving this assumption. Since 2011, more than eighty-five Avestan manuscripts have been discovered in Iran. One of these important discoveries has been Pouladi's Collection, which was found in February 2016 in a Zoroastrian house in the Priests' Quarter (Mahalle-ye Dastūrān) in Yazd. This article deals with the secondary life of Avestan manuscripts of Pouladi's Collection, focusing on colophons and marginal notes.The article makes available a collection of Middle Persian and New Persian colophons and marginal notes, all which have been excerpted, transcribed, and translated for the first time from the Avestan manuscripts of Pouladi's Collection, copied mostly in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Based on different types of colophons, this contribution establishes a classification of colophons and marginal notes of this collection with regard to formal, contextual, and functional characteristics.

This collective volume offers an insight into the Bon and Naxi manuscript cultures and their possible interconnections. This is the first primarily object-based study to deal with Bon and Naxi cultural history, book technology, collections of Bon and Naxi manuscripts, the relationship between text and image, writing materials, and the historical and archaeological context of the manuscripts' places of origin.

The article examines the provenance of two Judeo-Persian manuscripts from the collection of the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts RAS (C40 Hebrew) and the National Library of Russia (Evr. IV 150). Both manuscripts were restored in the 19th century, apparently by one master. However, in the 20th century these manuscripts ended up in St. Petersburg in completely different ways: one was bought in Europe in 1904, while the other was brought to Leningrad from Uzbekistan only in 1975. The provenance of both manuscripts can allow us to trace their history in the 20th century, and can help us to answer another question – if we can confirm that these two codexes of Shahin's poems were restored by the same person. The first manuscript was sold to the Asian Museum by Dr. Yahuda from Germany, a Jerusalemite Jew who became one of the leading figures for Jewish education in Europe, a bookseller and collector of oriental manuscripts. Apparently, he purchased the manuscript in Jerusalem at the beginning of the 20th century, while a large number of Bukharian Jews emigrated to Palestine and Shimon Hakham published a distinguished number of Judeo-Persian literature that made it rather popular that time. The second manuscript was sold by its owners in 1975. The manuscript most likely did not leave the territory of presentday Uzbekistan before that. I failed to find any documents describing the reasons that prompted the owners to part with this codex. Unfortunately, given the number of gaps in the provenance, the question of whether the same master restored both manuscripts remains open.

This study focuses on ample manuscripts (about 150) dedicated to the reign of Peter the Great in the collections of the BAN and the Archive of St. Petersburg Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Most manuscripts date back to the second half of the 18th century. One can assume that this was the time that sparked an acute interest of the society in both the personality of the reformer tsar and his activities. The description of the emperor's life during the reign of his daughter Elizabeth Petrovna is crucial. The manuscripts provide historic insights into Peter's life, including his birth, childhood and youth, first military missions, traveling, battles and victories, coronations, marches, embassies, and burials.
