This article is the result of the historiographical analysis concerning the history of the Altai development, Altai being a significant region of modern Siberia and Russia. The authors present the main directions of studying the Altai history of the 18th – early 20th centuries, as well as scientific and methodological approaches used by historians in the last two decades. The examination includes such directions of studying Altai history, practiced in the last two decades, as frontier development, history of management, socio-economic development, agrarian colonization, history of entrepreneurship, social and gender studies, etc. The general state of historical science associated with the growth of public interest in history, review of theoretical and methodological foundations of historical research determined the development of historical Siberian studies concerning Altai in this period. Consequently, the historical study of Altai in the modern (post-Soviet) research shows the importance of modern history-oriented regional studies. Moreover, the development of the historical studies regarding such a large and major region as Altai in the last 20 years evinces the existence of a multidimensional regionaloriented scientific school in Russian historiography

This study aims to evaluate different combinations of features and algorithms to be used in the control of a prosthetic hand wherein both the configuration of the fingers and the gripping forces can be controlled. This requires identifying machine learning algorithms and feature sets to detect both intended force variation and hand gestures in EMG signals recorded from upper-limb amputees. However, despite the decades of research into pattern recognition techniques, each new problem requires researchers to find a suitable classification algorithm, as there is no such thing as a universal 'best' solution. Consideration of different techniques and data representation represents a fundamental practice in order to achieve maximally effective results. To this end, we employ a publicly-available database recorded from amputees to evaluate different combinations of features and classifiers. Analysis of data from 9 different individuals shows that both for classic features and for time-dependent power spectrum descriptors (TD-PSD) the proposed logarithmically scaled version of the current window plus previous window achieves the highest classification accuracy. Using linear discriminant analysis (LDA) as a classifier and applying a majority-voting strategy to stabilize the individual window classification, we obtain 88% accuracy with classic features and 89% with TD-PSD features. ; This paper is supported by European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Grant Agreement no 779967, project RobotUnion.

The Liliaceae family is a terminal one in the order Liliales sensu APG IV (2016) and consists of 15 genera with more than 700 species. The family's geographical range covers most of the Northern hemisphere and extends through several natural zones, from forest tundra (Gagea species) to tropical forests (Tricyrtis imeldae Guthnick), within three continents, i. e. Eurasia, North America and Africa. Most Liliaceous genera occur both in Eurasia and North America. Representatives of Liliaceae develop coenocarpous fleshly indehiscent berries or dry dehiscent capsules. In most cases, multi-seeded berries themselves are a diaspore, whereas in the case of capsules, the seeds are normally a diaspora. The capsules play a vital role in seed dispersal. Structural adaptations of fruits allowed representatives of Liliaceae to spread into the territories that make up the modern range of the family.The aim of the study is to determine the principal patterns of fruit development for the representatives of Liliaceae with different types of dissemination. The study is based on the investigation of morphological and anatomical structure of fruits which is related to geography, ecology and biology of the Liliaceae taxa dissemination.The study has revealed that the wind is the most typical and widespread agent of dissemination for the investigated representatives of Liliaceae. The specialized capsules responsible for anemochory, i.e. auto-anemochory and anemochionochory (mainly in representatives of the ground cover of deciduous forests in temperate and subtropical climatic zones of the Holarctic Kingdom), are characteristic of representatives of the Lilioideae subfamily. Unlike the capsules supporting the anemochory, which actively participate in dissemination, the primary function of capsules of baromyrmecochorous representatives of Liliaceae is seed production rather than their dispersal, which is reflected in the anatomical structure of the capsules, with numerous intercellular spaces in the pericarp and almost complete lack of its lignification. The endozoochory of fleshly berries of Liliaceae is effective for dispersal by long-distance transport, primarily by birds. Supposedly, the ornitochory prevents dispersal among a large number of ecosystems, which is echoed in the ranges of Clintonia, Prosartes and Streptopus genera, representatives of the ground cover of coniferous and broadleaf forests of the Holarctic Kingdom.

Historical materials about the life and work of Ivan Akimovich Sapov — major general of the medical service, doctor of medical sciences, professor, chief physiologist of the navy, laureate of the USSR State Prize, honorary member of the I. M. Sechenov physiological society, honorary chairman of the scientific society of barotherapists of St. Petersburg and Leningrad region, honorary doctor of the Military medical academy, honorary academician of the Russian Academy of natural sciences, an outstanding scientist in the field of naval medicine. I. A. Sapov created a scientific school whose main activities were the development of hyperbaric physiology and diving medicine, the physiology of the work of naval specialists and the habitability of navy ships, methods of barotherapy and medical support for rescue operations at sea. The article describes the multifaceted activities of I. A. Sapov as an employee of the research institutes of the navy and as head of the department of physiology of scuba diving and emergency rescue of the Military Medical Academy named after S. M. Kirov, which made it possible to put into practice a set of physiological measures in order to maintain, improve and restore military-professional performance and prevent overwork of military sailors on campaigns. ; Изложены исторические материалы о жизни и деятельности Ивана Акимовича Сапова — генерал-майора медицинской службы, доктора медицинских наук, профессора, главного физиолога Военно-Морского Флота, лауреата Государственной премии СССР, почетного члена физиологического общества имени И. Сеченова, почетного председателя научного общества баротерапевтов Санкт-Петербурга и Ленинградской области, почетного доктора Военно-медицинской академии, почетного академика Российской академии естественных наук, выдающегося ученого в области военно-морской медицины. И. А. Сапов создал научную школу, основными направлениями деятельности которой были развитие гипербарической физиологии и водолазной медицины, физиологии труда военно-морских специалистов и обитаемости кораблей Военно-Морского Флота, методов баротерапии и медицинского обеспечения аварийно-спасательных работ на море. Описана многосторонняя деятельность И. А. Сапова в качестве сотрудника научно-исследовательских институтов Военно-Морского Флота и в должности начальника кафедры физиологии подводного плавания и аварийно-спасательного дела Военно-медицинской академии имени С. М. Кирова, позволившая внедрить в практику комплекс физиологических мероприятий с целью поддержания, повышения и восстановления военно-профессиональной работоспособности и профилактику переутомления военных моряков в походах.

We report the results of a search for the B -> Y(4260)K, Y(4260) -> J/psi pi(+)pi thorn p-decays. This study is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 711 fb(-1), collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. We investigate the J/psi pi(+)pi(-) thorn p-invariant mass distribution in the range 4.0 to 4.6 GeV/c(2) using both B+ -> J/psi pi(+)pi K--(+) and B-0 -> J/psi pi(+)pi K--(S)0 decays. We find excesses of events above the background levels, with significances of 2.1 and 0.9 standard deviations for charged and neutral B -> Y(4260)K decays, respectively, taking into account the systematic uncertainties. These correspond to upper limits on the product of branching fractions, B(B+ -> Y(4260)K+) x B(Y(4260) -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-)) Y(4260)K-0) x B(Y(4260) -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-)) < 1.7 x 10(-5) at the 90% confidence level. ; Public domain authored by a U.S. government employee
