L'espace logique du conspirationnisme: Espaces logiques classiques
In: Esprit, Band Novembre, Heft 11, S. 20-30
In: Multitudes, Band 91, Heft 2, S. 127-129
ISSN: 1777-5841
Religious dimensions of conspiracy theories: comparing and connecting old and new trends
In: Conspiracy theories
"Religious Dimensions of Conspiracy Theories contributes to the study of conspiracy culture by analysing the religious and esoteric dimensions of conspiracy theories. The book examines both historical and contemporary examples to explore transnational and transhistorical continuities between religious doctrines, eschatologies, and conspiracy theories. It draws on a broad range of disciplinary insights from historians, sociologists, anthropologists, and religious studies scholars. The book has a global focus and features case studies from North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. This book will be of great interest to researchers of conspiracy theories, esotericism, extremism, and religion"--
In: Esprit, Band Juillet, Heft 7, S. 37-52
In: Multitudes, Band 91, Heft 2, S. 77-83
ISSN: 1777-5841
In: Esprit, Band Novembre, Heft 11, S. 8-19
In: Multitudes, Band 91, Heft 2, S. 97-103
ISSN: 1777-5841
Conspiracies and conspiracy theories in the age of Trump
"This book focuses on the constant tension between democracy and conspiratorial behavior in the new global order. It addresses the prevalence of conspiracy theories in the phenomenon of Donald Trump and Trumpism, and the paranoid style of American politics that existed long before, first identified with Richard Hofstadter. Hellinger looks critically at both those who hold conspiracy theory beliefs and those who rush to dismiss them. Hellinger argues that we need to acknowledge that the exercise of power by elites is very often conspiratorial and invites both realistic and outlandish conspiracy theories. How we parse the realistic from the outlandish demands more attention than typically accorded in academia and journalism. Tensions between global hegemony and democratic legitimacy become visible in populist theories of conspiracy, both on the left and the right. He argues that we do not live in an age in which conspiracy theories are more profligate, but that we do live in an age in whcih they offer a more profound challenge to the constituted state than ever before"--Publisher's description.
Retournements (anti-)conspirationnistes et diagonale écologiste
In: Multitudes, Band 91, Heft 2, S. 110-114
ISSN: 1777-5841
In: Esprit, Band Décembre, Heft 12, S. 46-54
Hope and fear: modern myths, conspiracy theories and pseudo-history
A myth-busting journey through the twilight world of fringe ideas and alternative facts. Is a secret and corrupt Illuminati conspiring to control world affairs and bring about a New World Order? Was Donald Trump a victim of massive voter fraud? Is Elizabeth II a shapeshifting reptilian alien? Who is doing all this plotting? In Hope and Fear, Ronald H. Fritze explores the fringe ideas and conspiracy theories people have turned to in order to make sense of the world around them, from myths about the Knights Templar and the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel, to Nazis and the occult, the Protocols of Zion and UFOs. As Fritze reveals, when conspiracy theories, myths, and pseudo-history dominate a society's thinking, facts, reality, and truth fall by the wayside.

Les saveurs empoisonnées du complot
In: Inflexions, Band 47, Heft 2, S. 79-83
