Based on a case study of the Usinsk oil disaster in the Komi Republic, this article examines public debate on technological disasters in the context of the lives of indigenous peoples. Methodologically, the research is based on focusing on the voices "local" or the voices of "indigenous people". Empirically, the study is based on the series of publications by the NGO "Committee for the Rescue of Pechora". Local residents voiced their interests and demands through this NGO. The article shows how local communities, through their own print media and official websites, constructed, developed and promoted public debate about the consequences of the disaster and held those responsible to account. The key result of the study is that, despite being excluded from the decision-making process, the residents of the Pechora River basin had the potential for power and were able to take a proactive position in the system of confrontations provoked by the Usinsk disaster.

The article deals with the features of closed nuclear cities (CATF), identifying the environmental features. The problem of CATF is the completion of the Soviet atomic project, and the need of formating CATF. The development prospects of CATF are seen in rebooting and developing the industrial potential in the direction of nuclear energy technologies and science-intensive industrie.

The article is devoted to the ethical and philosophical analysis of the idea of existential well-being in Russian philosophy and its role in solving the modern problem of mental security. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the philosophical understanding of the modern issue of mental security by means of the ethical and philosophical heritage associated with the idea of existential well-being. The concept of existential well-being in Russian philosophy, which has an ethical nature, is highlighted. The purpose of the study is to study the contribution of Russian philosophy to the modern discussion about mental security as an important condition for existential well-being. The article considers several approaches (existential, phenomenological, ethical, philosophical and anthropological) to the study of fundamental issues in the context of the studied issues. The core of the study of the relationship between Russian philosophy and mental security as a condition for achieving existential well-being is the orientation towards moral values in the decision-making process, the organization of one's own life and building relationships with the surrounding reality.

This study is devoted to the study of the potential of modern technologies (information, psychohistorical and cognitive) in the issue of preserving the national mentality, which is recognized as an important element of the national security of a modern state. The purpose of the study is to consider information, psychohistorical and cognitive technologies as an eff ective way to protect the national mentality in the context of ensuring national security. Modern technologies have a high potential for preserving and protecting the national mentality. The article considers three groups of technologies, which, in turn, are specifi ed by separate methods. In the course of the study, it was concluded that in the face of increasing threats to the national mentality, recognized as an integral element of the national security of a modern state, the use of modern technologies can help reduce their negative impact in this area. That is why further study of this issue seems to be very relevant and promising from both scientifi c and applied points of view.

The article examines political aspects of the development of the doping scandal in international sports, which began after the 2014 Olympic Games. The accusations made against the Russian Federation for creating and supporting an institutionalized system of doping use point to the unprecedented nature of the information company. Despite the obvious political background of the doping scandal and the noticeable flaws of the charges, Russian sports functionaries were unable to fully exploit the potential of the political information counteraction company. The imperfections of the World Anti-Doping Agency and the influence of political interests on sports are considered. The main directions for preventing the influence of political aspects of various countries on the activities of the IOC in the field of sports are revealed. Ways are proposed for the unification of international regulation of law enforcement in the activities of international institutions for the development of world sports. Solutions are proposed under which it is possible to consolidate international political efforts to develop mutually beneficial conditions for the development of the international Olympic movement and improve the global political climate of sports diplomacy.

The purpose of the study. The article examines populism as a political phenomenon, and also raises questions of populism as a strategy for the activities of political parties. As part of the analysis of the activities of political parties, the phenomenon of populism is analyzed at three levels: classification, description, warning/admonition. The role of the political leader is also analyzed. The article outlines the prospects for further research on populism as a social phenomenon, which seems to be very important and relevant.

The article discusses the question of how to apply social design in the management system of secondary education institutions. In theoretical and practical terms, the correct and scientific justification of the problem statement is important not only in the framework of pedagogy, but in the context of management sociology. Today, the inability of schools to systematically adapt to the changes and integrate innovative approaches and technologies into the learning management process is noteworthy. The schools cannot anticipate and plan, in a project form, the directions for solving social problems and contradictions. The absence in the school management the system of models for implementing goals and the lack of the established mechanism for stimulating systemic changes in education are revealed. The main approaches and their relevance, the forms of the structure and possible directions of` the research are denoted. In conclusion, it is stated that social design, namely using the ability to create, implement social projects, that improve the quality of education, create opportunities for the development of the active educational environment, the inclusion of all interested participants in school relationships, personal growth and self development into of management practices – all they are necessary and important for developing and improving the quality of school education.
