This mini-review presents the analysis of the structure of metal-organic frameworks in terms of the D.I. Mendeleev's Periodic Law. Up to date, 69,666 compounds of these coordination polymers, containing 78 elements of the Periodic Table, have been synthesized, and their structure has been established.

Social network sites have taken a strong position in the space of socio-political communication. In the modern world, the necessity to analyze events occurring in the virtual space for a relevant reaction to events occurring in reality, is generally recognized. The study of online processes is largely based on the analysis of quantitative data that allows talking about the activity of users and their involvement. However, the meaning of the information transmitted in social networks remains important. In the framework of this study, an attempt is made to determine the specifics of broadcasting protest agendas in social networks and the impact of their transformation on the process of involving users in online protest activity. Examples of 7 protest campaigns accompanied by active coverage in social networks are given. Conclusions are drawn about the specifics of broadcasting protest agendas in social networks and supporting users from their transformation.

As well as streamlining academic research activities, contemporary technologies provide opportunities to infringe on the intellectual property of others through plagiarism. However, plagiarism has yet to be adequately dealt with in national legislations, which either do not contain any provision in this connection or fail to adequately define the relevant terms. Moreover, there continues to be much discussion as to what plagiarism is, as well as how and in what cases it should be punishable. The situation is further complicated by the various approaches to plagiarism and the lack of consensus on whether so-called "self-plagiarism" should be treated separately from the intentional infringement of other people's intellectual property or be deemed as a form of plagiarism. With the aim of clarifying these questions, the authors of the present paper compare different approaches taken to the problem of plagiarism and consider some contemporary approaches to plagiarism detection.

ABSTRACT
ObjectivesIn several disciplines such as in biomedicine and social sciences the analysis of individual-level data or the co-analysis of data from different studies requires the pooling and the sharing of those data. However, sharing and combining sensitive individual-level data is often prohibited by ethico-legal constraints and other barriers such as the control maintenance and the huge sample sizes. The graphical illustration of microdata is also often forbidden as can potentially be unsecured on the identification of sensitive information. For example the plot of a standard scatterplot is disclosive as can explicitly specify the exact values of two measurements for each single individual.
ApproachDataSHIELD (www.datashield.ac.uk) is a novel approach that allows the analysis of sensitive individual-level data and the co-analysis of such data from several studies simultaneously without physically pooling the data.
ResultsDataSHIELD functionality consists of several functions that provide the flexibility of performing data analysis through different statistical techniques. A part of this environment includes a number of graphical-related functions for the graphical illustration of the statistical properties and relationships between different variables. We overview the graphical functions in DataSHIELD (ds.histogram, ds.heatmapPlot, ds.contourPlot) and demonstrate a number of new functions including ds.scatterPlot and ds.boxPlot developed based on the application of different computational approaches like the k-Nearest Neighbours algorithm and ensuring privacy protected analysis.
ConclusionDataSHIELD graphical functionality has certain methodological features for the representation of the relationships between different variables preserving their statistical properties and assuring the data privacy protection. These graphical approaches can be used or enhanced for application in various areas where confidentiality and information sensitivity is considered, for example in longitudinal data and survival analysis, in epidemiological studies, in geospatial analysis and several others.

Using a mathematical statistics approach, we review the procedure for type classification of acoustic emission (AE) events into shear, tension, and collapse, proposed by Zang et al. (1998). The procedure is based on counting the signs of first pulses of waves arriving at acoustic sensors and is widely used in rock physics experiments. Under the assumption that the determination errors of first-pulse signs at sensors have uniform and independent distribution, the statistical significance and power of the type separation test are evaluated for a given number of sensors used. We consider and compare three methods of the construction of a statistical test based on the P-value approach and symmetric and asymmetric statistical hypothesis tests. Considering the results of the statistical study, we propose some practical recommendations for selecting a threshold to classify AE event types in experimental studies.

(Autorenreferat)

Since 2014 the Ukraine conflict has overshadowed Russia's North Caucasus issues, both within the country and abroad. Yet on its Caucasian margins, the Russian state continues to find itself confronted with challenges that affect its internal security and stability as a multi-ethnic state. Dagestan, the largest of the Caucasian republics, has become a flashpoint between security forces and the armed insurgency during the past five years, while changes in Islamist leadership have made it the ideological and logistical centre of North Caucasian jihadism; in this respect it has in fact overtaken Chechnya. What impact did the Chechen wars have on neighbouring Dagestan? How has the religious 'rebirth' since the end of the Soviet Union proceeded in this part of Russia, where Islam is more deeply rooted than anywhere elsewhere in the Federation? How does Dagestan's great ethnic diversity affect its political and social life? This study addresses these questions, exploring the problems that make Dagestan stand out as Russia's most troublesome republic. (author's abstract)
