Small farmers and technology in Eastern and Southern Africa

Für die Regionen Ostafrika und Südliches Afrika wird allgemein festgestellt, daß geeignete Technologien zwar existieren, aber nur von kapitalistischen Großfarmen genutzt werden. Ihr Zugang zur Forschung ermöglicht ihnen die Wahl der günstigen Technik; zugleich können sie die Forschungsarbeit in Richtung ihrer eigenen Probleme lenken. Den Kleinbauern fehlt dieser Zugang und auch die nötigen Mittel zur Nutzung der Technik. Dennoch könnte die Produktion der Grundnahrungsmittel Mais, Weizen und Sorghum um das dreifache gesteigert werden. Dafür werden am Beispiel zweier Fallstudien Vorschläge zur Nutzung angepaßter Technik gemacht. (DÜI-Wsl)
