"Cynism makes life an aleturgie". Points for a rereading of the philosophic path of the last Michel Foucault ; "El cinismo hace de la vida una aleturgie". Apuntes para una relectura del recorrido filosofico del ultimo Michel Foucault
The aim of this article is to suggest a new way of interpreting Michel Foucault's evolution in his latest works, through the notion of truth regime. Using the information provided by his courses at the Collège de France between 1980 and 1984, including some which are still unprecedented, the role played by the concept of truth in one of the main 'spiritual' schemes to which Foucault approaches: the Christian aleturgie, the platonic ontology of the core, the stoic care, the socratic model of the parrhēsia and the cynic of vraie vie. This article also seeks to highlight how the concept of truth gradually moves from an epistemological perspective to a practical point of view on the aforementioned ground and the growing importance of the notion of life (bio) as a touch stone for the truth: the vraie vie of the cynic is the necessary conclusion of this path — the truth is no longer a noun (Vérité), it becomes an adjective (vraie vie). In other words, with cynism, the problem of 'spirituality' (access by the person to the truth) becomes the problem of access for individuals to philosophical life, an issue which must once again play a central role in contemporary philosophy. ; The aim of this article is to suggest a new way of interpreting the evolution of Michel Foucault's later works, through the notion of regime de vérité. Using evidence provided by his courses at the Collège de France from 1980 to 1984, including many which remain unpublished, it will investigate the role played by the concept of truth in some of the main "spiritual" regimes that Foucault sketches: Christian aleturgie, Platonic ontology of the soul, Stoic care of the self, Socratic parrhēsia and Cynic vraie vie. This article also aims to underline the way in which the concept of truth progressively moves from an epistemological to a practical field, and the increasing relevance of the notion of life (bios) as a touchstone for truth itself: the Cynic vraie vie is the necessary conclusion of this path - truth is no longer a substantive (vérité), it ...
