Given the prevalence of paternal perinatal mental health concerns, researchers have suggested introducing routine screening. However, little is known about the acceptability of perinatal screening measures in male populations. Furthermore, the need for screening is influenced by men's perinatal help-seeking behaviors. A thematic analysis of interview data from nine men at risk of paternal perinatal depression and/or anxiety investigated both acceptability of screening and help-seeking behaviors. Themes indicate that routine screening is desired, but acceptability is influenced by perceptions of its intention and possible outcomes. Findings also suggest that barriers to men's perinatal help-seeking are likely to be minimized by increased awareness and normalization. Future research and clinical practice should account for complexities raised by men's perceptions of health care services.

Luxury is an industry that defines its value through the quality of its raw materials, which fosters creativity, elevates artisanship and relies on brand heritage and local production to underpin the provenance of its products and justify its pricing strategy and, as such, can be considered as embodying many of the practices of sustainability. Yet, despite public commitments and pledges for better business, both financial and cultural factors have contributed to a lack of progress in implementing the necessary system changes implied by slow fashion, sustainable development and the circular economy. Social enterprises use business to address social and environmental issues. In Tengri's case, founder Nancy Johnston was inspired by her experiences travelling with Mongolia's yak herders where she was confronted with the harshness of the nomadic way of life and threats to its continuing existence. She was driven to action when she juxtaposed these conditions with the promoted glamour of the luxury fashion industry, which relies on supplies of ingredients from just such workers. This article explores how Tengri combines social and environmental awareness with luxury product development incorporating the UN SDGs into a sustainable luxury menswear brand in a virtuous cycle of ethical fashion consumption and production.

This introduction to the special issue will ground our understanding of the current state of Black boys and men in America, nearly 2 years after the killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. Each of these articles represents the voices of scholars whose influences add clarity to the experiences and aftermath of traumatic events that threaten the safety and well-being of Black boys and men. Collectively, these articles showcase various research methods; address individual, family, and community issues; and demonstrate how race, gender, and class influence how the assorted levels of society interact with Black males. This special issue is an important contribution to raising awareness of and enacting social change for Black boys and men in our nation.

The #MeToo movement promotes awareness of the prevalence of sexual victimization, but it has been criticized for overlooking some survivors. The purpose of this qualitative research is to explore 41 U.S. rape victim advocates' perceptions of the #MeToo movement's inclusion of or impact on survivors who identify as men. Results indicate that advocates perceive that men are not encouraged to disclose their experiences or become involved in the #MeToo movement. This reflects differences in general societal responses to rape survivors based on gender. Advocates' perceptions inform the #MeToo movement's future and possibly the anti-rape movement's future. The movement's efforts to recognize the prevalence of sexual victimization and create change through social media activism may fall short without recognition of the experiences of all survivors.

In the last 20 years, gendered violence has come to the forefront of human rights and public health discourse as a global phenomenon and as a global health concern. As this awareness has increased, so has the emphasis on the important role that men play in the prevention of gendered violence. Funding is now pouring into relatively new organizations seeking to engage men, yet little research has been done to examine the patterns through which this work gets endorsed, funded, and executed. In-depth interviews with leaders of these organizations and their funders reveal the mechanisms by which a small number of organizations are able to obtain and maintain financial and political leadership in this growing global field. The impact of cumulative advantage on the work being done is also discussed.

Male preservice elementary teachers often receive special attention. However, identities consist of many complex components. Constant comparative methodology revealed emergent themes of privilege and disadvantage linked to gender, religion, and ethnicity in this exploratory examination of the stories of three male preservice elementary teachers. The men demonstrated varying awareness of their hybrid identities and associated privileges and disadvantages. The participants found privileges and disadvantages related to their gender, but members of religious and ethnic minority groups perceived significant disadvantages of those aspects of their identities. Findings suggest that preservice male teachers' identities are more complex than gender alone, that being in multiple minority groups may compound challenges for preservice male teachers, and that teacher training alone may not sufficiently address issues of identity.

An increasing number of studies have investigated the distinct challenges faced by male victims of sexual assault. However, there is a lack of research focusing on how they perceive their sexual victimization experience and their help-seeking behavior. This qualitative study aimed to explore the experiences of cisgender men who had been sexually assaulted in adulthood and their subsequent help-seeking processes within a Danish context. Our findings underscore the crucial importance of acknowledging the sexual assault, which entails a multifaceted process that intertwines with the help-seeking behavior. This process is influenced by various factors, including gender norms, disclosing the assault, and the impact of assault-related symptoms. The role of male rape myths and masculinity is discussed. Our research offers valuable insights into male victims' experiences and emphasizes the need to raise awareness and to promote a gender-inclusive view on sexual assault.

Programs working with men and boys in relation to gender equality are increasing. Little is known, however, about how these programs go beyond raising awareness, to supporting attitude and behaviour change in their participants. In response, 17 facilitators from eight Australian organisations were interviewed to identify program design and delivery strategies that increase male participants' engagement. Analysis of interview data revealed three themes and seven subthemes, which were crosschecked against survey data from 79 program participants. The themes were the provision of a safe, judgement-free environment; encouraging and supporting growth in participants; and the central role of the facilitators in the success of the first two themes, and in the delivery of programs more generally. Facilitator and participants held mostly consistent perspectives, which were comparable with the existing literature; variations from the literature were noted, however, regarding the lack of efficacy of single-session programs and the relevance of facilitator gender.

This article examines men's involvement in an institutional gender equity award scheme and how their self-concept as allies develops over time. It draws specifically on a subset of qualitative data from the four men participating in a study involving in-depth interviews with university staff involved in the self-assessment team of one Australian institution's Science in Australia Gender Equality (SAGE) Athena SWAN pilot. Data related to the men's experiences is the article's focus. Key themes from the data include: 1) men's motivations for engagement; 2) men's self-understandings as 'champions for change' 3) the barriers/risks associated with male championship; and 4) men's evolving perceptions and critiques of the male champions model. Findings show that men demonstrated personal growth and increased awareness through their participation in the pilot. Yet, their frustration with how equity and diversity was managed in their organisational context highlights pitfalls in the concept of a male 'champion'. This article provides timely guidance for institutions seeking to engage allies in gender equity initiatives.

Objective. Employment-related sexual harassment imposes large costs on both workers & their employers & many organizations have responded by implementing formal policies, grievance procedures, or training programs. However, limited evaluation of these interventions leaves us knowing very little about their impact. Our goal is to add to this limited empirical literature by analyzing the relationship between sexual harassment training & employees' views about what behaviors in fact constitute sexual harassment. Method. We use probit analysis & data drawn from the US Merit Systems Protection Board (USMSPB) of the US federal government to determine -- separately by gender -- the impact of sexual harassment training on the propensity of workers to define specific unwanted sexual behaviors in the workplace as forms of sexual harassment. Results. We find that sexual harassment training is associated with an increased probability -- particularly for men -- of considering unwanted sexual gestures, remarks, touching, & pressure for dates to be a form of sexual harassment. We also find that the proportion of agency staff receiving training is positively related to the propensity that an individual employee has a definition of sexual harassment that includes these forms of unwanted sexual behavior. Conclusions. Our results suggest that sexual harassment training programs may be useful in leading workers to be more sensitive to the issue of sexual harassment. Widespread training within the agency has an effect over & above that attributable to the individual's receipt of training itself & training appears to be particularly successful in clarifying men's views about the "gray" area generated by unwanted sexual behavior originating with co-workers rather than supervisors. 3 Tables, 19 References. This article illustrates the practice of narrative therapy as an application of pro-feminist men's scholarship. Narrative therapy examines gender discourses that support women's oppression and men's engagement in practices of entitlement and dominance. By engaging in collaborative conversations, men in narrative therapy may develop a reflexive awareness that creates space for alternative ways of being. A case example illustrates narrative practices, such as deconstructing dominant discourses, separating the problem of male training from individual men, inviting men to examine their relationship with patriarchy and its effects on their lives and relationships, and inspiring men to perform alternative narratives of self that have preferred real effects and counter the practices of hegemonic masculinity.

In this essay, I draw upon my pro-feminist background to describe the formulation of the concept of homohysteria and explain its heuristic utility in conceptualizing historical shifts in heterosexual men's gendered regimes. I suggest that in times of high homohysteria, heterosexual men are compelled to align their identities and behaviors with orthodox (hypermasculine) notions of men's masculinity. This is in order to avoid homosexualization. Conversely, heterosexual men retain considerably more gendered freedom in times of low or no homohysteria. I describe this as a cultural process related to homophobia and define the term homohysteria as men's fear of being homosexualized, through association with feminized behavior. I suggest that there are three elements necessary in its production: (1) mass awareness that homosexuality exists as a static sexual orientation, (2) a cultural Zeitgeist of disapproval of homosexuality, and (3) the conflation of femininity with homosexuality. I then show how, through identity politics, homohysteria can eventually give way to less homosexually panicked masculinities, something I describe as inclusive masculinities.

Sex has always been a taboo subject in Asian society. However, over the past few years, awareness in the field of men's sexual health has improved, and interest in sexual health research has recently increased. The epidemiology and prevalence of erectile dysfunction, hypogonadism and premature ejaculation in Asia are similar in the West. However, several issues are specific to Asian males, including culture and beliefs, awareness, compliance and the availability of traditional/complementary medicine. In Asia, sexual medicine is still in its infancy, and a concerted effort from the government, relevant societies, physicians and the media is required to propel sexual medicine to the forefront of health care.

Given the growing popularity of online methods for researchers and the increasing awareness of the levels of harassment and abuse directed at women online—especially women expressing feminist views—it is critical that we address the implications of online abuse for feminist researchers. Focussing on an often hidden yet significant part of our methodological decisions and recruitment, this paper details the online abuse levelled by men's rights activists against a research project on women's experiences of men's stranger intrusions in public space. It argues for the need to locate such experiences within a violence-against-women frame, extending the concept of a continuum of sexual violence. Such an extension renders visible the added labour of 'safety work', which forms an invisible backdrop to the methodological decisions of many feminist researchers.
