The expansion of wind power around the world poses a new challenge that network operators must overcome, namely the integration of this renewable energy source into the grid. Comprehensive analyses involving time-domain simulations must be carried out to plan network operation and ensure power supply. In light of the above, and with the aim of extending the use of the wind turbine models developed by Standard IEC 61400-27-1 and assessing their performance according to national grid code requirements, an IEC Type 3 wind turbine model has been submitted for the first time to Spanish grid code PO 12.3. Indeed, there is a lack of studies submitting generic wind turbine models to national grid code requirements. The model's behavior is compared with field measurements of an actual Gamesa G52 machine and with its detailed simulation model. The outcomes obtained have been comprehensively analyzed and the results of the validation criteria highlight that several modeling modifications, in the cases of non-compliance, must be implemented in the IEC-developed Type 3 model in order to comply with PO 12.3. Nevertheless, the results also show that when the transformer inrush current is not considered, the reactive power response of the generic Type 3 WT model meets the validation criteria, thus complying with Spanish PO 12.3. ; This research was funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and European Union FEDER, grant number ENE2016-78214-C2-1-R, as well as the Agreement signed between the UCLM and the Council of Albacete to foster Research in the Campus of Albacete. The authors would also like to express their gratitude to the wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy for the technical support received. Furthermore, the authors would like to thank the TC 88/WG 27 Committee "Wind turbines Electrical simulation models for wind power generation", to his Convenor, Poul Sørensen, and to the 16 participating countries.

On 4 March 2013, roughly 12.3 million voters went to the polls in Kenya. After a protracted counting process with clear irregularities, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared sitting deputy prime minister Uhuru Kenyatta of The National Alliance (TNA) and the Jubilee Coalition the victor in the presidential election. Kenyatta won with 50.07 percent of the vote, a bare sliver (fewer than 9,000 votes out of 12.3 million) above the threshold of 50 percent plus 1 vote needed to avoid a runoff. In second place with 43.31 percent was Prime Minister Raila Odinga, leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the Coalition for Reform and Democracy (CORD). The fortunes of the two parties reversed in the legislative elections, with ODM winning 78 National Assembly seats to the TNA's 72. CORD also won more of the new governorships, while Jubilee won a larger share of seats in the new Senate and a larger share of the separately elected women county representatives to the National Assembly. Recent reports suggest that Zimbabwe's crisis has entered a new, utterly unsustainable phase. Over three million of the country's 12.3 million citizens have fled. Official inflation rates exceed four thousand percent, and economists believe inflation is actually over ten thousand percent. Stability cannot survive that kind of hyperinflation; only clear political change and an internationally-backed stabilisation programme can remedy the situation. Adapted from the source document.
Introduction: The aim of this paper was to study whether Swedish soldiers who have served abroad had a higher prevalence of respiratory symptoms than the general population and, if this was the case, also to study whether this was associated with time spent in a desert environment. Methods: The prevalence of respiratory symptoms among 1,080 veterans from Kosovo and Afghanistan was compared with that in almost 27,000 subjects from a general population sample, using propensity score matching and logistic regression. Results: The prevalence of wheeze (16.3 vs. 12.3%), wheeze without a cold (11.1 vs. 8.0%), nocturnal coughing (26.6 vs. 20.1%) and chronic bronchitis (12.3 vs. 6.8%) was significantly higher among soldiers than controls (p < 0.05). A dose-response-related association was found between time spent in a desert environment and wheeze, wheeze with breathlessness and wheeze when not having a cold. Having been exposed to desert storms was related to nocturnal cough and chronic bronchitis. Conclusion: Swedish soldiers who had served abroad had a higher prevalence of wheeze and cough than a control group from the general population. The association between being exposed to a desert environment and respiratory symptoms indicates that further protective measures should be introduced for military personnel serving in a desert environment.
