Adopting a transnational lens, Immigrants' Citizenship Perceptions: Sri Lankans in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand investigates Sri Lankan immigrants' complex views towards their home (Sri Lankan) and host (Australian or Aotearoa New Zealand) citizenship and the factors that affect them. The book argues that the existing citizenship policies and popular discourses towards immigrants have a strong nation-statist bias in which native citizens believe that they know how exactly immigrants should behave or feel as host citizens. The book problematises this assumption by highlighting the fact that it represents more how immigrants' citizenship perceptions should be while ignoring how they actually are. Unlike native citizens, immigrants must balance two different positions in how they view citizenship, that is, as native citizens of their home countries and as immigrants in their host countries. These two positionalities lead immigrants to a very different perspective of citizenship. Deliberating on the complexities displayed in Sri Lankan immigrants' views on their home and host citizenship, the book presents a critical analysis of citizenship views from immigrants' standpoint. Missouri's Virginia Minor forever changed the direction of Women's Rights-not Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucy Stone, Carrie Chapman Catt, or any of the other so-called "marquee names" of the suffrage movement-when she and her husband, Francis, argued Minor v Happersett in 1875. In Youth in Egypt, Nadine Sika explores the political world of young people in Egypt, focusing on their experiences under authoritarianism. From the reigns of Gamal Abdel Nasser and Anwar Sadat to that of Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, she offers an on-the-ground perspective through the eyes of multiple generations of young people who lived through consecutive periods of political upheaval and state militarization. Drawing on surveys, interviews, and focus groups, Sika shines a light on youth who have participated in protest movements, civil society organizations, and political parties. She shows us the different opportunities for economic and political participation that exist for them, explaining why young Egyptians may choose to either mobilize against or - surprisingly - in support of the regime. Sika underscores how youth in Egypt have been regarded as both the "hope of the nation" and a "threat to the nation." Youth in Egypt shines a light on the rising generation of young people that represents Egypt's future and also has significant implications for the broader Middle East and North Africa region.

"Crip Colony is an interdisciplinary analysis of the racial politics of disability, mestizaje, and sexuality in the Philippines. Sony Coráñez Bolton reads across language archives and overlapping Spanish and US imperialisms, drawing on colonial records, visual culture, poetry, presidential speeches, travel narratives, and political essays, in addition to the famous Spanish-language Filipino novel Noli Me Tangere. Through these texts he shows how these imperial and racial regimes were also regimes of ability. Expanding traditional engagements with mestizaje, Coráñez Bolton examines the ways that Filipinx mestizaje became a eugenic framework which identified native Filipino subjects as inherently disabled, in need of reform and rehabilitation, and mixed-race Filipinos as able to offer a form of "benevolent rehabilitation" which would prepare these deficient natives for assimilation into the US empire. Through this crip critique of coloniality, Coráñez Bolton shows how mestizaje allowed for "superior" mixed-race subjects to govern the archipelago in collusion with imperial processes of dispossession and debilitation"--
