Taking up the common challenges in biocatalysis, a group of industrialists decided to react with a bottom-up solution, and created the Swiss Industrial Biocatalysis Consortium (SIBC). The Swiss Industrial Biocatalysis Consortium is a pre-competitive working group to better implement and utilize existing know-how and resources in biocatalysis, and to influence and shape the economic and educational political environment.Recent examples of activities are outlined.

A presentation to the Board of Directors of Boston Library Consortium. Although library collaboration is common and many libraries collaborate through many organizations, it is a relatively unexamined aspect of library work. Many descriptions exist, but little from the point of view of organization and motivation. In this presentation, Constance Malpas and I presented a framework for thinking about library collaboration and draw out some of the challenges successful collaborations face. We emphasized that collaboration is a set of strategic and tactical choices, that it is very influenced by people and politics, and that collective action poses problems.

Just over three years ago, world leaders came together and adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It expanded on the earlier Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and encapsulated global goals that were 'unprecedented in scope and significance…setting out a supremely ambitious and transformational vision.' The SDGs do so by acknowledging the relevance of issues such as climate change, rapid urbanization, clean and sustainable energy, agriculture, and resilient infrastructure, safe cities and human settlements on efforts to eradicate hunger and poverty.

Established in 1970 to foster the study of Europe during the Revolutionary Period (1750–1850), the Consortium on Revolutionary Europe has grown into one of the major academic conferences in the United States. The Thirtieth Annual Meeting in Huntsville, Alabama, was held from March 2–5, 2000. It sponsored twenty-seven sessions and hosted over 123 historians who attended to hear papers ranging in topic from the problems of command in the Napoleonic Wars to the changing perception of art in eighteenth-century France. Members of the Consortium are actively seeking participants to present papers on topics related to social history. The best presentations from each conference are published in the Selected Papers.

Bereits seit Anfang der 1990er Jahre wird jungen Wissenschaftlern im Vorfeld der Tagung "Wirtschaftsinformatik" ein Doctoral Consortium als unterstützendes Forum angeboten. Diese Einrichtung wurde auch zur größten internationalen Konferenz der Wirtschaftsinformatik, der WI 2009 in Wien fortgeführt.
