The role and performance of the two dominant financial institutions in the rural sector of the PRC, the Agricultural Bank of China (ABC) and the Rural Credit Co-operatives (RCCs), are examined. Organizational structures of the ABC and the RCCs. Problems and constraints in the operation and management of the ABC.
