The article considers some aspects of the history of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russian Federation through the bios of its three outstanding representatives: the first head of the St. Petersburg police Ivan Putilin, the head of the St. Petersburg gendarmerie lieutenant-general Ivan Volkov and the minister of internal affairs of the USSR army general Nikolai Shchelokov.
The article analyzes the socio-political concept and social activities of Nikolay Konstantinovich Mikhaylovsky, the theorist of reformist populism, editor of the magazine "Otechestvennye Zapiski" and "Russian wealth", sociologist and literary critic. The authors on the basis of the sociological heritage and legal journalism proves, that Mikhailovsky is the national leader of the democratic intelligentsia, such as his reformist populism was ideologically close to the liberal conception of the rule of man and the values of the political freedoms. The article shows that the struggle for political freedom and a constitution was a priority for Mikhailovsky, while the socialist aspects of his doctrine recede into the background. On the basis of unknown archival materials (Foundation of E. P. Letkova-Sultanova) authors prove a significant role of Mikhailovsky in the formation of the ideology of the party "Narodnaya Volya". The convergence of the populist thinker with a liberal opposition movement manifested in the fact of his cooperation with the party of the "People's rights" and participation in actions to protect freedom of expression at the beginning of the 1900-ies. The Karamazov Correspondence represents the first fully annotated and chronologically arranged collection of the Russian religious philosopher Vladimir S. Soloviev's most important letters, the vast majority of which have never before appeared in English. Soloviev was widely known for his association with Dostoevsky in the final years of the novelist's life, and these letters reflect many of the qualities and contradictions that also personify the title characters of The Brothers Karamazov.

This article delves into the intricate ways in which anti- and postcolonial narratives shape the formation of political myths in both the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Republic of Korea. Political myth, as a discursive system, elucidates how people are molded and what objectives they serve through a complex interplay of signs and symbols. Having established the prerequisites for when historical narrative converges with political myth (drama, significance, and political action), the authors identify three clusters of historical narratives, each associated with a significant trauma: the loss of independence, the attainment of independence through external aid, and the division of the people. Scrutinizing these narratives, the authors extract common and specific features of political myths as they manifest in the North and South, and pinpoint the key historical and political circumstances that account for these divergences and convergences.
