The use of virtual reality and other technology mediated simulations is in early stages. Guidelines and protocols are still being developed. However, much of what we have used in other forms of simulation can be successfully adapted and implemented. This article will highlight selected areas for use of virtual reality in nursing education. Current literature describes the evidence in this area that includes immersive and desktop virtual realities. Both modalities provide an experiential learning platform that has demonstrated gains in knowledge acquisition and effective learning outcomes. There are several options available to use virtual reality in nursing education. Appropriate educational frameworks and alignment of the virtual reality experience with learning outcomes are important considerations. Infrastructure and support for immersive or desktop virtual reality will look different. It is beneficial to collaborate with instructional technology support staff early in the process as options are explored. Overall, technology mediated simulations using virtual reality is a promising new area for nurse educators. A thoughtful, informed approach can facilitate positive learner experiences and strong outcomes.

This paper estimates the crowding out of private transfers caused by 70 y Más -a public assistance program for rural elderly adults in Mexico, for whom family support is an important source of income. Using data from the National Household Income and Expenditure Survey and a triple-difference estimation, we find that the program crowds out private transfers by 37 percent, and it does so mainly by reducing the probability of receiving domestic remittances. As a result, the non-labor income of beneficiaries increases by less than their government transfers. Thus, by reducing their private support to elderly adults, domestic donors are dampening the effect of the program, although not completely neutralizing it.

In recent years, the paradigm that attempts to understand international organizations as exactly that 'with a life and internal dynamic of their own' has gained ground. This, in turn, has made it possible to re-create research agendas and propose new ones for studying these organizations. However, a tendency exists to view international organizations as bureaucracies that suffer from ongoing pathologies and dysfunctions. It is worth considering whether this viewpoint would allow us to study international organizations in depth, especially given that the field of organizational studies abandoned the functionalist perspective of bureaucratic pathologies more than 40 years ago. This article proposes that we move beyond this viewpoint that focuses on dysfunction and pathology in order to reclaim the advances in analyzing complex organizations that have been made in the field of organizational studies. Taking a more dynamic view of the organizational milieu, of power, and of the management of uncertainty 'as critical variables in organizational dynamics' would appear to be an indispensable first step for studying international organizations.
